Install the free VMware Player to run Windows 7 in a virtual machine window, or Ubuntu.
No work around to make XP fold on GPUs. Only CPUs still fold on XP.

Re: are other people using the data after main papers is out
Usage is mixed. Some data is reused as a basis to look deeper in to a problem, some as basis to look at a tangential problem, some data only gets used once. But in general, folding has been a cumulative process, gaining knowledge and gaining speed getting more knowledge. One might recall the FAH Blo...

Here in CA it gets up to $0.30/kWh in the summer and ... We could get into a long off-topic discussion about that  but let's not. It won't help anybody. Well I'm not interested in arguing at all if that's your concern, but I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Are you upset at my comme...

Open a command prompt window, then run FAHClient --lspci from whatever directory the FAHClient lives in. In my case, it was C:\Program Files\FAHClient>FAHClient --lspci. Then capture the text output of the lspci run and paste it in to a post here. This will give the exact hex codes for the recognize...

Re: Not Sure?
Hi 7im, This machine (typing on is a NON FOLDER) my three folders, are normally monitored (accessed) one time per day, via 'web control' to record "pt's/wu's/rank", then close browser, repeat 24hrs later. During the yellow wheel period, I would check-in on the folders, more frequently, &a...

Re: Not Sure?
On a side note, if you are going to get serious about folding, I would recommend not keeping a browser window open all the time to potentially use CPU cycles that FAH could use. Use FAHControl instead. It sits in the Notification Tray already, always handy when wanted, and no need to duplicate what'...

Re: Possible problem adding second graphics card
If I re-install the client won't I lose any part-finished WU's though?. I thought that was a big no-no as the WU's then go into limbo until they hit their end-date Reinstall doesn't specifically mess with the work unit, but if the slots move around, it can potentially cause a problem. Always safer ...

Re: What are the "canon" servers?
And even the GPUs.txt link is broken, you shouldn't need it. The installer downloads it automatically, assuming you have valid GPU drivers installed. Unfortunately the standard 7.4.4 install on Linux can fail to download gpus.txt automatically and manual intervention is necessary. Not if you instal...

GPU usage charts I have seen are square saw-toothed shape. Nature of the beast. How long is "long"? and how often? Except for the checkpoints every 5 frames, the temp shouldn't fluctuate much. What degree of temp changes are you seeing?

Adding the Python support work around linked above is the safe and recommended solution. As such, I doubt anyone has even tried the alpha version, but you are welcomed to be one of the first, if you like. Alphas are typically rough in FAH, may fix one issue, cause 2 more. Caveat Folder.

That version 7 wiki was used during the development of the V7 client. It is mostly deprecated now, though still contains some good info. You should see the v6 FAH WIKI. And even the GPUs.txt link is broken, you shouldn't need it. The installer downloads it automatically, assuming you have ...

Re: Possible problem adding second graphics card
This device was causing some hardware detection issues in an earlier client version, and so was purposely blacklisted. That's the only reason it shows up as a GPU, even though it's an Audio Controller. I think it safe remove from the list completely. 10f0 GP104 High Definition Audio Controller But i...
