I can't connect to the server through my browser so I guess it's out of reach - just letting you guys know.
Looking at the server stats it appears that there are only 23 work units available which may be causing some issues too.
If you are on Linux or OSX be sure that you have the latest version of the client installed - the older versions are not eligible for all projects.
It's best to upgrade the client between work units. Unfortunate as these server problems are, they do provide an opportunity to upgrade without endangering a work unit in progress.
But let's face it. We are getting a whole lot more "opportunities" than we are getting revised software needed to get this folding operation back in gear......
I was able to get another unit. To be fair this is the first time my SMP machine has been starved for work in quite a long time. Running the latest linux version (6.29)
All of my machines have had to wait to go to another server before they get a work unit. One machine had to wait 4 hours before it got a work unit from another server.
Hardware configuration: Intel i7-4770K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR3-2133 Corsair Vengence (black/red), EVGA GTX 760 @ 1200 MHz, on an Asus Maximus VI Hero MB (black/red), in a blacked out Antec P280 Tower, with a Xigmatek Night Hawk (black) HSF, Seasonic 760w Platinum (black case, sleeves, wires), 4 SilenX 120mm Case fans with silicon fan gaskets and silicon mounts (all black), a 512GB Samsung SSD (black), and a 2TB Black Western Digital HD (silver/black).
I talked to Pande Group yesterday, more SMP WUs are on the way.
Better to sit idle than to send out duplicate work units like other DC projects fake the appearance that people's machine are still busy. FAH actually saves you money that way, your CPU isn't running at 100% when there is no work.
Rest assured that break will be very short.

That machine currently has very few WUs to distribute. The Assignment Server should redirect to to another server that does have WUs within 5 to 10 minutes.
New WUs are generated whenever somebody uploads a completed result.

Well in my case it didn't. At one point it got up to 37 tries and still no work unit or the redirect that you're talking about.

Downloading at ~2692 kB/s for somewhat less than 48 seconds means you downloaded somewhat less than 129 MB which is a believable number.
I do believe that the real problem is indicated by the message

How many clients are you running on that machine? Which ones are they? What are the MachineIDs associated with each one and what is the current directory for each one?
I have two machines that have three clients. I know for a fact that my GPU clients run machine ID 2 and 3 and I always leave machine id 1 for my CPU client. All three clients have different directories. I gave up on that and somehow I'm able to pull WU from a Windows SMP2 Client. The VMWare ones are the ones that couldn't pull work units.

To me this looks like you're running two SMP clients in the same directory. Check 'ps aux' or 'ps aux | grep fah'.
Both bruce and _r2w_ben say you're running two clients in the same directory so you don't need me to say I agree with them. Go to all three directories that you think you're running in and look at the date of the file FAHlog.txt. If it has not been updated recently, that should tell you which client doesn't start in the expected directory.
