I'm not sure if it's only 129.74.85.15 but that's the one that's currently giving this error.

Connections with 129.74.85 are showing signs of strain. I've notified the owner of the server.

This is fixed in newer version of fahcontrol. (Project descriptions are removed from fahcontrol) ;)

Well except that the error will now show up in Web Control, but without the HTML tags.

Is there any way to get the project viewer back, short of reinstalling an older version (I just installed the newest version right after I made this thread)? I miss the project description on FAHControl. ;_; Why was it removed anyway?

Have you tried clicking the project link in FAHControl? That should bring up your default browser and take you to the project page with its descriptions.

As noted in the release, fahcontrol is considered an expert tool. Experts know how to find project descriptions without needing them to be served up automatically. This serves to simplify the tool for it's original purpose.

If you like, the web control page shows this information. That may be more to your liking.

Too late. I already installed the newest version that doesn't have the project descriptions.

Speaking of which, I'm probably doing something wrong here but I can't seem to get the web interface working. I try going to http://localhost:36330/ (on Chromium) but it just stays white and says it's loading forever. And doing that puts messages like this in the log:

Code: Select all

02:04:48:10:W :Server:Denied 2:127.0.0.1 access to URI: /
04:04:48:22:W :Server:Denied 4:127.0.0.1 access to URI: /
06:04:48:31:W :Server:Denied 6:127.0.0.1 access to URI: /
08:04:50:04:W :Server:Denied 8:127.0.0.1 access to URI: /
09:04:50:07:W :Server:Denied 9:127.0.0.1 access to URI: /
11:04:53:45:W :Server:Denied 11:127.0.0.1 access to URI: /
I'm not sure if I'm just being stupid and doing something wrong or if this is a problem that warrants opening a new thread.

Even the newest client still has FAHControl and there is still a project link in it.

In this case, it's probably a common enough problem for others to appreciate finding it with a title How do I reopen the web control interface? so I put it in that new topic.

I've stopped Folding - why?

Post by petrock »

I came into work today and three of my machines had topped folding. They all had some HTML in the "About project" section of the FAHControl UI. I can't highlight the text in the FAHControl UI, otherwise I would include it verbatim in this post. But the gist of the HTML page is "500 Internal Server Error - The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Apache/20.52 (CentOS) Server at fah-web.stanford.edu Port 80."

I'm not sure when this problem happened they were all running project 8028 (624, 0, 52). I'm not running any funky config, other then a redirected work unit directory. The FAHControl UI shows a running Folding Slot, and a running Work Queue (at 53%). The Work server 171.67.108.60, Collection Server 171.65.103.160. The project on one machine was assigned 2013-02-04T12:10:05Z. I don't know if that is significant or not though.

I moved aside <path to FAHClient>/work/00, rebooted and it started folding again. I preserved the logs in case you want to take a look. Let me know (although I haven't been getting notified of replies to threads I comment in on this forum, even though I do check "Notify me when a reply is posted").

500 internal server error

Post by Forcinghavok »

Hello,

I have noticed that two of my clients that are running version 7 have come up with an error - 500 internal server error, and it says "the server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. please contact the server administrator root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred and anything you might have done that may have caused the error." then gives the address of the apache info.

Is this something I did? Or is this on your side? I noticed it wasn't folding and restarted, usually it fixes the problem, and it didn't fix either computer when I restarted.

Thanks,
Erik

Project Info Missing

Post by martintfs »

I've just started folding again after a couple of years break and I love the new client software compared to the old console version
In the past couple of days the project description has disappeared and there is a load of what looks like XML

"500 Internal server error" looks like the important bit

Folding is still going on and units are uploaded and downloaded successfully so its not really that important but I enjoyed reading the project descriptions (even though I don't really understand them).

Having that info there in the console is also a good way to encourage others to fold as it mentions things people can relate to such as cancer or Alzheimer's

Is the error the same as reported in this topic? This is being looked into, hopefully to be fixed relatively soon.

I'm aware of how technical some of the descriptions are, and am working on a page that should help bring them to a good level of comprehension and detail.
