NVIDIA GPU2 PPD Thread [Preliminary Results]

So I took the chart and found the lowest price for each card (inc rebates) on newegg. Then I divided the avg PPD by the cost. The card with the best ratio is the 8800GS with 52.63PPD/$. The next highest is the 8800GT 256MB @ 46.07PPD/$.

Updated. The numbers previously listed were based on older data.

Here are some more 8800GT 1.07 scores. I have been using 6.12beta11 console now.
5010: PPD 4471
5011: PPD 4486
5217: PPD 4464
5218: PPD 4468
5221: PPD 4472
5222: PPD 4451

Now the weirdest thing: since July 18, PPD for projects 5006-5008 has gone up by about 200PPD (still using exactly the same 1.07 core):
5006: PPD 4652
5007: PPD 4662
5008: PPD 4665
No idea what's causing this. PPD for other projects like 5009, 5012, 5215 and 5216 remained the same since the last time I posted scores, therefore I'm not reposting them.

Has this really been updated? The comparator sheet in the scores_nvidia.xls that you posted a week ago, had much more data..

Mind that the 8800GS is now sold as 9600GSO, but with slightly different memory configurations (384MB and 768MB respectively).
I got myself 4 of these.

The problem with this card is there is no pwm fan control, so
the fan runs at 100% speed all the time, and its a non-ref design
so aftermarket coolers cant be used either.

Ah. I saw some people complaining about the fan being loud but was thinking to myself "just fire up rivatuner and turn down the speed a notch." I guess that explains it. You could do a 7v mod: running the ground on the fan to 5v instead of 0v. 12v - 5v = 7v which would make it considerably quieter.

Regardless, you could install one of these in a PC in a closet (please tell me I'm not the only person here with a computer in the closet) and then forget about it.
