We have a new public beta client for linux, version 6.24.
The fah6 executable is available at http://www.stanford.edu/~kasson/folding/linux/fah6
This client has no expiration date. We will update the public download pages shortly.

Will the version on the public download page also be a 64bit binary, and thereby only for SMP clients?

So far so good -- Dropped it in on two client and they restarted their WU's without a hitch.

The obvious question: What does 6.24 do, that the other one didn't do or its corollary What doen't this do that 6.23 did?

No expiration date -- Does that mean non-beta version?

The only major change is a fix for the unitinfo.txt bug so that the max progress reportable is 200% in unitinfo.txt. (We've also tried to fix this core-side, but the client contains an additional safeguard.) Everything that's in 6.23 should be in here.

Right now we're having a couple issues with the 32-bit linux build systems, so the 6.24 client is 64-bit for the time being. We ultimately anticipate having a 32-bit client as well, but I wouldn't expect it tomorrow...

The naming is misleading; our apologies. This is a full public beta.

Actually, my apologies. The first posted linux client was a 6.24+ alpha that you don't want to be running. I have now posted the 6.24 beta to replace it.
Sorry for the confusion. I updated and rebuilt, but one of the files in the build setup was cached and didn't get recompiled. Thanks to toTOW for catching this.

That is actually intentional there. The client has been capped at 200% so we can still see when the core throws a fit and gives stupidly large % values.

Just recently download this version as the other previous version just stopped. No reason - just died. (it pissed me off that it did not say it had expired - that is just plain bad programming!)

Anyway, 6.24 did one unit (A1) and then when it finished and tried to get another unit get this:

Switched both of my boxes over to this two days ago and waited to make sure it worked. It's working, and it fixed the 100 percent completion problems I started having last week. Nice work!
