6.23/windows deadline extended Feb 2,2009 to July 4, 2009

Postby kasson » Fri Oct 31, 2008 11:18 pm

We have posted a new drop-in replacement executable of 6.23r1 with the deadline extended to July 4, 2009. No other changes. As both Feb 2 and July 4 are several months off, no urgent need to upgrade.

Presumably then, the move of the WinSMP out of beta is expected to be quite sometime off? (I guess this is a rhetorical question, as I know you don't post timescales!)

I have to say, Ive been very pleased with the newer WinSMP and LinuxSMP (and GPU2 clients), as I've had much, much fewer problems - so it looks like the work going on in the background is paying off (great work 8-) ) .... just need a native LinuxGPU2 client now ....

Lost a system to a bad hard drive. New drive, clean install and running 6.22b2 Mpich.
Will the 6.23r1 drop in this client or do I need to install the 6.23b first?

You should be able to drop this executable in without needing to go via the original 6.23 executable.
Folding whatever they send me since March 2006 :) Beta testing since October 2006. www.FAH-Addict.net Administrator since August 2009.

is this a DeinoMPI or MPICH(2) SMP client?
I think I finally stopped my 8-way system from seg faulting. Now THAT's problem solving!

It should work with either; you just need to give it the appropriate flags (-smp -deino for deino; just -smp for mpich).

I will test it out once this WU either finishes or bombs out (with error code: 0x7b.)

(I don't suppose that those bugs that have been reported have a BugID attached to it?)

It works as a drop in replacement just fine. :)

(running with MPICH)

Gentlemen,

I tried start the F@H in my son's machine today Feb, 02. The program's window just open and closed. Nothing appears in the F@Hlog. Reinstall from scratch and no changes in the scenario. I am using MPICH version.

Any help will be appreciated.

Best Regards, Fernando.

@Fernando: Your client expired today. Follow the link kasson has posted, download the new executable, and replace your existing executable.

OK, DanGe.

I just downloaded the program from Download Page. That was my mistake.

Please, Kasson, correct the link on the Download Page from Stanford.

Thanks.

Best Regards, Fernando.

Can you be more specific with how it fails? The file is
http://www.stanford.edu/~kasson/folding ... 32-x86.exe
Which looks like the same URL to me (unless I'm missing a typo)

After I put in the new .exe today it wont go further with the current WU.
CPU load is at 100% but nothing happens (stopped after 2 hours, while normally a step is aroung 15min).

Should I clear the work folder and go on?
I'm not hunting for points with this rig but zero progress sucks^^
