I just went to cat 9.1 and 6.23. What a difference. First noticeable thing was it just worked first try :D PPD shot up decently too. CPU usage in vista still about a whole core though.

So far no VPU recovers, but I've only been running this way a few hours. I did notice that I had system pauses on one WU, 4743, noticeable mostly in firefox as it would just freeze for about 5 seconds at a time randomly, but on the current one 5747 there haven't been any pauses. 4743 was scoring higher, maybe it runs the GPU harder than 5747? I'll keep an eye on it.

What board Sparky?

As for CPU load, there is a core in testing that should drop the load on the CPU by a whole lot for larger WUs.

It would be nice, if one core would be sufficient for 2 ATI GPU2 clients :). For now with core 1.22 only one free core causes large PPD drops.
Any news about what will be in the next core and when it will be available?

Thanks,

I can report the new Cat 9.2-driver, combined with F@H GPU 6.23, still goes nuts considering the shitload of VPU Recovers I got.

4870

Hey I just saw that 9.2 came out. Maybe it will fix some issues some people are having? Figures it gets released the day after I install 9.1

On Vista, you shouldn't be seeing VPU recovers. On XP we have an idea on what is triggering this and we are trying to get a fix either into a CAL point update.

OK I'm noticing something... on the larger units, at least the 4743, with 9.1 and 6.23 I get random system pauses. Is this typical?

Same behaviour for me here, could you try, if that pause fades out, if you press Ctrl-Alt-Del and then Abort. Please report back, thanks.

For those seeing pauses, are you on XP or Vista. If on XP, please try the 8.12 drivers and see if this goes away.

I´m on Vista x64 and 8.12 didn´t have that, because with 8.12 I was unable to use both GPUs (HD4870 X2).

You mean when it pauses hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and see if that unpauses the system?

Vista.

This pausing is getting annoying and makes it hard to use the PC :( I'm going to try 9.2 and see if that fixes it... I hope it does.

*EDIT* Well before I try 9.2 I decided to put the FLUSH_VARIABLE in. I stuck it under System variables but then when I rebooted it kept vista 64 from starting, so I used last known good config which removed the variable. Was it supposed to be under user variables not system variables? Or did I miss something and it doesn't work in vista?

*EDIT 2* I removed 9.1 and installed 9.2. So far, no more system pauses. It isn't on one of the real big units right now so we'll see how performance is but the current mid-size unit hasn't had any performance impact compared to 9.1. So far, so good. Now if I could just figure out the FLUSH_VARIABLE thing to see if I could bring down CPU usage that would be great.

Yeah right, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and right after press the Abort button and see if that unpauses your system. I only want to verify if that works, it´s not a real solution though.

Kind of. Maybe shortens the amount of time the pause is. The pauses aren't all exactly a certain amount of time, some are 1 second some are 10 seconds.

The fix - get 9.2. NO pauses with 9.2 :D

9.2 is no real fix for me, perhaps I have to do a clean uninstall / reinstall for that to work. Have you set the FLUSH_INTERVAL variable and to which value?
