Postby IWEK91 » Sat Jun 26, 2010 11:41 pm

Hi I'm new in this folding@home so please help me

My computer:
MBO: ECS 945GCT-M2
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2.0 GHz
GPU: ASUS NVIDIA 8400 GS with the latest CUDA drivers
the other stuff isn't important for this matter.

OK here's the problem:

I instaled the latest CUDA drivers and the GPU client, started it, entered my name and my teams number and started folding with the default options when instaled...and I hover my mouse pointer over the GPU client's icon in the taskbar and there's no work units being folded...it's just sitting put...I waited for an hour and still nothing.
And when I tried to view the work the "Display" window of the client is blank just a black screen, and a few minutes later here comes the "Blue screen of death" aka BSOD.

I'm loosing my mind here over this thing...and I want to donate my share of the work too help the comunity but my client is sitting dead there...but it's slowing my computer down too a crawl....I'm desperate here so PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

With your gpu, the viewer will always bsod you, its very buggy. My 9600m gt is the same basic card, and My fastest work on it is onlyh 1340ppd, so 3 wus all day.
You'll need to d/l fahmon or hfm.net. These show your progress and the log formed by the work as it runs.

Please cut and paste text from your log file using the "Code" button when creating your reply and we might be better able to help. If you are using the Systray install, right click on the FAH Systray icon, then navigate to the Status-->Log File menu.

With your gpu (just like my 8400m gt) it wont work. It does exactly that, nothing, and if you look carefully it actually keeps getting new units and sending packets back even though its doing nothing. Also if you had been able to get to the display (i did sometimes) its useless because it shows on the right (not currently working) and on the left a fictitious percentage beingc ompletely which (everytime you close and reopen the display) resets to 0%.
