I also got my first 2684 on the new folding system at my office

Project: 2684 (Run 5, Clone 4, Gen 6)

Average time/frame: 00:24:00 (after 72 frames)
CPU: XEON E7450 @ 2.4Ghz
# of CPU sockets: 4
# of Physical cores: 24

# of FAH CPU processes: 1 (-smp 24)
# of FAH GPU Clients: 0

RAM GB installed: 24
RAM Type: DDR2
RAM Speed: 667
OS / Linux kernel: 2.6.31-19
Running in VM: No

I know that many people don't like the performance of the A3 WUs, but this folder system loves the A3 compared to the A2 (avg TFP = 22min). When running A2's this system performs worse than my 980X system, but when running A3 this system is running 33% faster than the 980X.

These frame times are the same as what I was getting running a pair of 2.3GHz Barcelona’s in LINUX with the old v2.19 core :(

I finaly got a 2685 (I only got 2684's & 6701's before...) and it looks like i7-980X really likes them!

Project #: 2685 (74-26-23)
Average TPF: 23:06
CPU Model: Intel i7-980X
CPU Speed: 4200MHz (21x200)
# of CPU sockets: 1
# of cores/threads available: 6/12
# of threads used by fahCore_a3: 12
RAM installed: 6GB (1600 - 8/8/8/1T)
RAM used (F@H): 1.2GB
OS: Win7 x64 Ultimate
Dedicated: Yes, but with 1x GPU Folding (GTS250)

Project#: 2684 4,20,8
Without the GPU client going I have a frame time of 1 hour.
Even if I run it as dedicated, I will not make the preferred deadline :(
With the GPU client going, an hour and five minutes per frame. Was running with an 8800 GT

Interestingly enough, ran a non bigadv A3 unit and had 99% of time remaining until deadline.

From what I"ve seen on this thread, I can't get a 2684 nor 2685 work unit done by the preferred deadline.
The only way I can do it is if I overclock.
CPU: core i7920 @ 2.67 Ghz. CPUZ indicates 2806.3 Mhz, from Turbo boost etc...I"m guessing.
1 socket, 4 cores, 4 virtual, 8 used by client
6 gigs of RAM

According to my math, if I run as dedicated without the GPU client going and at sock speeds. I will miss the deadline by about 6 hours, 3.84 and about 2 hours for the upload.
I forgot what i had in here last time.

Yeah, I think the cutoff for an i7 running bigadv is around 3.6 GHz on 2684's (not factoring in download/upload time), and since they don't seem to be on the way out anytime soon, you'd really want to make sure you could complete them and not just 2685's. bigadv was intended for 8+ physical cores, and despite the improvements in HT over the P4 version, it still can't fully duplicate the performance of physical cores.

Hi, would you mind posting in the Hardware forum the complete specs of your system and if you have got power consumption figures tell them us.

thanks,

Project #: 2685
Average TPF: 40.20
CPU Model: Intel i7-860
CPU Speed: 3800MHz (190x20)
# of CPU sockets: 1
# of cores/threads available: 4/8
# of threads used by fahCore_a3: smp 7
RAM installed: 6GB 1600
RAM used (F@H): forgot to look
OS: Win7 x64 pro
Dedicated: Yes, with 2x GPU Folding (GTS240 & 8800GT) and pc used for general stuff a good 6hours of the day

Same wu as above, but on the first 10% using all 8 threads with 2 gpus folding it was a good 3mins per % slower. One frame even took 1hr 20 with pc in general use. It was pretty stable around low 40mins with only 7 threads used.

Project #: 2685
Average TPF: 43.20
CPU Model: Intel i7-860
CPU Speed: 3800MHz (190x20)
# of CPU sockets: 1
# of cores/threads available: 4/8
# of threads used by fahCore_a3: smp 8
RAM installed: 6GB 1600
RAM used (F@H): forgot to look
OS: Win7 x64 pro
Dedicated: Yes but 2x GPU Folding (GTS240 & 8800GT) and general pc use too.

PS my rig was using 380W folding the above with the monitor on. Monitor uses 40W when on. (8800GT just failed on me, 6th this year  )
