I thought I'd give this client a go.

Windows Vista Premium 64 bit
Asus P5K Deluxe/Wifi
e6700 Core 2 Duo 2.67 @ 3.2 GHz (8x400)
2x1024 GB Corsair DDR2-800 c4
Sapphire X1900XTX
Cat v8.3 for Vista-64
2x74 GB Raptors in Raid 0

I downloaded the v6.10 beta2 console GPU client zip file.
I expanded that in to C:\Users\<username>\FAHGPU
I created a shortcut to the fah executable, and added -local -verbosity 9 -configonly.
Ran it once to setup the client options.
Removed -configonly and ran the client again.
FAH ran, downloaded fahcore_10, and downloaded a WU.
But then it complained it couldn't run without the d3dx9_30.dll file.
I found that file on my XP-32 box, copied it to the FAHGPU folder, and off it went.
I folded 3 frames. TPF ~10min:12sec
CPU usage in task mangler hovers between 5-9%.
Shutdown with ctrl+c to test checkpoint/frame saves.
Restarted client and got an EUE.
Changed the fah executable and fahcore to run as admin.
Started again, downloaded new WU.
Completed 1% and shutdown.
Now it restarts without a problem. I may need the admin access because I have not disabled UAC.

Next I'll find an ATI tool to run at 3D speeds.

Add -verbosity 9 to the shortcut that starts the client so we can see more detail in the fahlog.txt. Please also post more information about your system. See my post above as an example. Thanks.

I'm getting the exact same error as Nartano. using x1950xt, Pentium D CPU, 965P mobo (I think)...

Which cat drivers? Do you have the right DX .dll file? What OS? As I posted above, please provide more details. The cause of the error is not apparent from the info you posted, so we need more info...

Catalyst drivers 8.3 (lastet released)

Running the tray client on an XP machine, Ati X1900xt 512 MB, Opteron 185 on Asus A8n32-sli deluxe, 2 GB ram.

I'd use the console version but it wouldn't let me report the work done!!

XP rules out some of the security issues in Vista.

I don't think the shortcut with -verbosity 9 is working. IIRC, it should look more like this...

You mentioned the console client wouldn't upload, so that makes me think there is a problem connecting to Stanford, both a problem to upload work, or a problem to download a work unit without errors.

Just to be sure, delete the work folder and queue.dat file in your fah folder.

Are you using an application like ATI Tool to increase the speed of your GPU?

Do a search for the file d3dx9_30.dll. Copy and paste that file in to the same folder where your client is located.

Does your motherboard have an onboard video chip? If yes, make sure it is disabled in the BIOS. Also make sure if there is a Video Hardware Priority setting to select PCIe.

If you meant report as in display the progress of a WU, you could use a monitoring tool like FAHMon (see Tools link at the top of this page) in conjunction with the console client.

In addition to 7im's reply, also noticed that the launch directories are different in the two logs that you've posted here.

ran one work unit with the CPU (X86) system tray and it worked well.

I reinstalled my old 1900GT to try the new GPU 6.1 beta 2(Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008 GPU System tray client)

did not load, same error as reported by others:

My system:
AMDx2 5600, ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX
XP PRO service pack 3 beta,
3870 as secondary card when using the 1900GT to fold.

Anyway, since I had the old 1900GT running sucking 100 watts at idle, I downloaded the non-systray console version:
Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008 GPU Client console version (with multi-GPU support) 6.10 beta2

And it is working fine. No change to setup other than uninstalling the systray version.

Thought this might help, the problem seems to be with a conflict with the systray and services in XP Pro, and not in the actual client and the card.

I should probably point out that this directory is NOT deleted by the uninstaller, no uninstaller deleted personal preference files, and that's what that location is.

It is my intent that all windows clients in the future use these directories, as I'm trying to conform to Microsoft standards to avoid problems with XP vs Vista, and other location/permission problems like that.

We need all of your system information, hardware info, driver versions, and more.

OS version, bit, and patched up?
CPU
vid card model, brand, memory
Cat driver version
Confirm DX file, etc.

Also, need to make sure the ATI card is the primary display adapter in Windows (hence question below about other vid cards or on board vid)

And some had noted a need to slighly increase the voltage on some GPUs to make it stable enough to run the GPU client, even at default GPU clock speeds. I don't recall if your GPU was one of those or not.
