Re: spikes in credit-log graph?

About a week ago I had a 12 hour run of WUs finished, uploaded and estimated points written to the log but no WUs credited in the database. The server must just have got a talking to and submitted all the horded credits in one go. Nice to know problems eventually get sorted.

Re: Request for Linux install guides to be updated

Linux distro's are so varied so it's a little tricky for a definitive guide, but there is a process, and the gotchas can usually be figured out with some Google-fu. 1) Chose a server distro. I chose Fedora 31 which was a mistake because it's too bleeding edge and FAH isn't. The distro SSL package an...

Re: CentOS 8 - anyone have F@H running?

7.5.1 installed OK. /usr/bin/FAHClient complained about not finding the versions of libssl and libcrypto with the same error messages as the OP. I had been creating and deleting soft links in lib64 to point older versions of the libs to the newer ones and never did get 7.5.1 to recognize the libs. M...

Re: CentOS 8 - anyone have F@H running?

Couldn't get FAHClient 7.5.1 to work with the newer libssl and lib crypto on Fedora 31. FAHClient 7.4.4 works.

Re: Change in BA requirements

Throwing another rock into the pool: How about changing the points structure to reflect your contribution at the current moment, not over all time, and progressively devalue points earned the older they are, linearly or exponentially. It kind of formalizes what happens now anyway with points/WA infla...

Re: help setting up my gpu

Have you let it run for a while?
My overclocked 8800GTX is taking 1min36sec per % for that work unit, yours will take longer. Nothing will be added to the log until 1% has been completed.
In the task manager you should see a FahCore_11.exe process running, using somewhere between 5 to 10% CPU

Console Client Improvement Suggestion

Having done some serious hardware swapping and optimization in the last few days, I have been starting and stopping console clients quite a lot in various operating systems: SMP on Windows 7 GPU on Windows 7 SMP onGentoo Linux GPU on Wine on Linux In most cases, the restarts are OK. I can't remember...

Re: Answers to: Reasons for not using F@H.

I think the problem is that all the F@H stuff is closed source. There are many skilled people who want to help and have lots of time right now (ie, completely out of work, not looking : me) and could help a bunch. Keep the science tight, but open source everything else. My whole career has been data...
