Re: 171.65.103.162 assigning same WU twice

(Run 199, Clone 33, Gen 16) Found it. Both clients connected to send their completed units at the same time, and both failed several times. Original timestamp for client 1: April 4, 2009 [19:03:03] Completed 250000 out of 250000 steps (100%) [19:03:03] Writing final coordinates. [19:03:04] Past main...

Re: 171.65.103.162 assigning same WU twice

I've had identical work-units, the same P(R,C,G) numbers, on a couple of my computers in the past. It happened when two clients on different machines asked for the same type of work-unit at the same time. I think I got points for both work-units folded as its a slight sever glitch and not a user er...

171.65.103.162 assigning same WU twice

Hello! One of my machines with multiple Uniprocessor clients fetched the same WU on 2 clients today. Both have been running quite happily for 9 months or more; seperate working directories, unique Machine IDs, etc. Obligatory log snippet. I stopped one client and deleted \work and queue.dat, yet thi...

Re: Project: 2484 (Run 122, Clone 8, Gen 15) EUE 3% NaN

Please don't spam the forums... if you are having this many errors in such a short time, your computer is definitely unstable. You will need to decrease overclocks/increase voltages and run a stability test to figure out what is causing your crashes.

Re: Could this be a future for GPU Folding?

This company built a whole new chip specifically for ray-tracing. It's not a programmable GPU like the ones we use for Folding or for gaming.

Re: World of Warcraft and folding@home

This thread went way off topic in a hurry. How about this spin on it: Since there is no stable/easy/friendly Windows SMP client, (i.e. one that I'd trust the average WoW player with,) and since WoW players are unlikely to own quad-core CPUs when the game only supports 2, assume that this effort woul...

Re: World of Warcraft and folding@home

Just as an obervation concerning folding and WOW. There is real problem mixing the two, for most people, and that is folding hogging all network bandwidth while the clients are getting new WU's or sending the results back. During those intervals, the folding clients cause the latency of WOW to skyr...

Re: p4436, p4437 missing & performance q

Upon further consideration, perhaps the larger L2 cache is what gives Core2s such a performance gain on large proteins over the P4 Reference Machine. Being small could mean the gains come solely from IPC enhancements. Bummer. 2483-85 and 5113-5114 are wonderful on Core2s.

p4436, p4437 missing & performance q

Projects 4436 and 4437 are being assigned with somewhat high frequency to Windows Classic clients, but are not available on the Projects page for utilities such as FahMon. (Gromacs, 225 points like 4438 I would assume.) Also worth noting, these only have 7885 atoms, but produce about 1/3rd the PPD o...

Re: Double Gromacs Reduction ?

For what it's worth, 2484-2496 use the regular Gromacs core, but also get PPD rivaling the SMP client on Core2 chips.

Re: Project: 2492 (Run 99, Clone 25, Gen 0) EUE

I've gotten a lot of LINCS WARNING messages from 2492 and 2496 as well. I'll also send you a PM with a few R/C/G numbers in case this is outside the expected realm of EUEs.

Re: Project: 2484

The whole range of projects 2482-2496 use the same FAHCore, and are all 905 points. PPD should be nearly identical.

Re: p2493, p2495 - extreme deadlines?

Yes, of course; a reliable machine will finish these in a week, but every lost WU sets the researcher back 7 months. This seems excessive.
