Re: [32-bit Lubuntu 15.04] Failed to access core package

There were no special flags. By default it would not start (when set to gpu folding).

Re: [Lubuntu 15.04] Failed to access core package

Yes the problem was GPU folding is not supported in 32bit linux. I installed the 64-bit version of Lubuntu and installed 'fglrx' along with the fahclient/fahcontrol deb's and it all went smooth. The PC is now folding. Thank you for the suggestion, it solved the issue.

Re: [Lubuntu 15.04] Failed to access core package

That could be it. I chose to install the 32-bit version because the system only has 2gb of ram. However if 64-bit is needed to GPU fold, that would explain why my previous Ubuntu build worked. Will try this tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

[32-bit Lubuntu 15.04] Failed to access core package

I wasn't sure where to make this point exactly but it maybe related to the drivers. OS: Lubuntu 15.04 GPU: Radeon 270 CPU: Phenom II x4 955 I ran 'apt-get install fglrx-core fglrx-update' and restarted the system. I've also installed both folding at home and the client using the folding at home deb ...

Re: PPD Calc?

Ah yes, the program itself just downloads the text when the program starts up, there is no other way to execute it in the program. It would be equal to loading it inside a browser (i would guess). In my case its used for the one or two times a day that i check to see if the machines are performing a...

PPD Calc?

I found myself using the bonus calculator located http://linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php to figure out what my PPD was. However I noticed that too many projects were missing (mostly newer projects), so I read the source of the page and figured out the formula and did it on paper. Then since I was doin...

Re: 6.34 vs 7 beta Client log format

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to get the client to use the config.xml. I've changed both /var/lib/fahclient/configs/config.xml (doesn't seem to use anyways) and /etc/fahclient/config.xml (automatically handled by the program for the most part). I then restarted the fahcontrol progr...

Re: 6.34 vs 7 beta Client log format

oh nice! that will make parsing a log file much easier. Thank you smoking and cody for the information. I'm probably going to proceed with the v7 beta client as planned but not quite as aggressively as I had planned. Even though stanford doesn't intend to support 3rd party applications like they use...

Re: 6.34 vs 7 beta Client log format

Well one thing I noticed is that the v6.34 log format includes a line like this: [14:50:41] Working on queue slot 07 [May 13 14:50:41 UTC] However while briefly looking at the v7 beta log format, the only full date stamp is when the file is opened. I'm half hoping that they'll add more full date tim...

6.34 vs 7 beta Client log format

I have been developing a Java based client reader for Ubuntu (maybe multiple platforms) while learning Java (so its definitely in early stages). I was wondering if the log format used for the smp client version 6.34 will be completely wiped out when 7 is released. I was also planning to refocus my p...

Re: HFM or Fahmon for Ubuntu Command Line? [no gui]

I'm planning on testing out Crunchbag and Lxde (openbox linux). Both are lightweight distributions. Lxde is available to install over other linux distributions, so I installed the lxde gui package and ran startx. The interface looks good but is very basic, clicks don't always work (maybe virtualbox ...

Re: HFM or Fahmon for Ubuntu Command Line? [no gui]

I will be looking into alternatives then. Originally I was looking for ways to do what the old windows used to be able to do, something like restart in dos mode. Although the guides I found on google kept mentioning ways of removing packages, but no way to disable them. I would much prefer something...

Re: HFM or Fahmon for Ubuntu Command Line? [no gui]

Well I may have explained this badly. My intention is to figure out how to install ubuntu server 10.04 and run smp2 on it. So far I've got everything down except for figuring out the PPD and maybe settings up wireless internet (though the guides seem straightforward). The methods I use for getting i...

HFM or Fahmon for Ubuntu Command Line? [no gui]

I'm trying to figure out if Ubuntu 10.04 Server can run better for SMP2 than Windows 7 64-bit. To do this I've installed Ubuntu using Virtualbox and it is now running on top of my Windows 7 64-bit. I've also installed a utility in ubuntu called 'origami' to keep track of the progress (percentage com...
