Oh! I didn't know that the GPUs can now do what the CPUs calculate. Or is that only for GPU3 and Nvidia, and do some restrictions apply?

Nope not university yet, gotta do Alevels first. And my parents are going to move after I leave, so I gave up my plan of leaving the computer on headless for a year.

haha lol I've considered that, but my laptop is kinda old unlike this desktop, and I don't wanna be running it 24/7 and stuff. (that's what'll happen if I install fah lol)

I'm leaving for the UK for college in a couple of hours, so I gotta stop folding for at least 10months :/

Yes, I have a 6950->6970, and i used to fold SMP:3 + GPU. But it used too much power, was hot, slow, and loud. So I switched to SMP:4 only now. I find it a pity though, I like the feeling that my whole computer is being used 100% for science though.

I've just learnt that there are a lot more mass-computing programs out there other than F@H, like SETI. Though I have no idea what they calc. Could anyone give me more names, and tell me what those calculations are aimed at? (I think SETI has something to do with space??) I would also like to ask if...

Yup, I basically leave my computer folding 24/7 and i don't really check my points/rank anymore. I feel fully comfortable as long as I know that my computer is running max speed folding.

Now I may understand that some people do not consider the power usage worth it. But how would F@H not be taken seriously? I thought all these calculations were essential to the understanding of proteins or whatsoever.
