Re: Project 18448 issue
I made sure my pagesys was active and at least 2 to 3 times the size of my ram .... I never saw those symptoms again. I'm glad you brought that up after reading the log, just like with the -advanced flag. I originally disabled it for security reasons due to an AMD processor vulnerability, bu...

Re: Project 18448 issue
btw client-type=advanced is defunct and hasn't been valid for some time .... the only valid client-type is beta and that is only used by folders who have joined the beta team. Good to know... apparently I should post/lurk here more often... I'm still getting WUs from this project, but at lea...

Project 18448 issue
I just had the following issue with this workunit. I am running a 3070 Ti GPU with the -advanced flag. It was causing my web browser to crash repeatedly. 17:25:49:WU01:FS02:Connecting to assign1.foldingathome.org:80 17:25:49:WU01:FS02:Assigned to work server 129.32.209.202 17:25:49:WU01:FS02:Request...

After doing this and running it for a couple minutes, this worked. Thanks!Neil-B wrote:may be a driver issue ... pause slot ... reinstall drivers ... reboot machine ... restart folding

18201 (46853, 0, 8) slow, minimal GPU usage
Project 18201 is hardly using my GPU power and the PPD is below normal. My 3060 Ti is giving 1.2M PPD when usually I get 2-3M. The core clock is only at about 780 MHz when running this WU. Is anyone else having this issue or able to explain what might be the cause?

Re: 4.8M PPD 2080!! Project 13436
As mentioned above, it can go either way. I had a really high PPD count on a WU a few months ago, but had another one recently that initially indicated around 40% of normal PPD. It subsequently fluctuated between that number and the PPD I would usually get. With most WUs being pretty small, it will ...

Config reset after Windows update
I ran the latest Windows 10 Update (linked below) and after restarting noticed that my configuration was reset to default. It had Anonymous user and the default CPU/GPU settings. I was able to put it back in and get it back to the way it was within a few minutes, but want to mention it here since th...

Re: Are we having issues w/140.163.4.200?
I am having the same issue. It looks like it was having similar issues a month ago as a new server as well. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=36092
Edit: Also addressed in another subforum, looks like a reboot: viewtopic.php?f=108&t=36247

Inconsistent PPD on 1080
I just came back to folding after a long hiatus and noticed a big difference in the first two WUs, both COVID-related. The first was project 13418 which gave a whopping 5.5 million PPD on a GTX 1080 with only 40% utilization! The second was 11759, which was more expected at 750K PPD at close to 100%...

AMD Exascale APU processor
This won't be released until 2016 or 2017, but it looks like it could be very powerful for folding as it has a significant GPU component in addition to 32 CPU cores. If there's a bigadv-style class of WUs specifically for it, this could do a lot of damage. http://hexus.net/tech/news/cpu/85184-am ......

Microsoft Cloud commercial
This commercial mentions the use of cloud computing to assist in cancer research. Prof. Wu Feng of Virginia Tech is featured. I'm not sure if he has worked with FAH at all, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Re: Folding on Android
I noticed the OP on this thread talked about having a Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone and wanted to have it run while it charged during the night. Coincidentally, Prof. Pande posted on the blog that Sony smartphones will now have an app in the Google Play store that will allow folding to run while chargin...
