Re: Change in BA requirements

A good point system would be very simply. 10 point for each ns/day of folding done. A 7970 gets around 40 ns/day of folding done, so it would have a ppd of 400 You could easily apply this retrospectively by looking at how many ns each WU covers. That would give us a point system that perfectly match...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Can you just tell me in plain and simply english when you will increase the core count from 32?

My 2P 32 core rig is folding happily, when will you prevent it from folding bigadv?

Re: Change in BA requirements

So what you are saying it that the work of bigadv folders is not appreciated? Are we such a nuisance to you that you need to get rid of some of us?

Bigadv valued less then multiple GPU WUs?

My 2P bigadv* rig get around 200K PPD (doing a 8105 in around 28 hours with 17 mins TPF), where as single 7970 gets around 120K ppd on the core 17 beta WUs, so 2 7970s would get higher PPD then a 2P bigadv rig. So would you prefer we run 2 gpus over a 2 cpu system, what does more science? It seams f...

Re: Power usage - is it credited somehow

Not sure what you mean here. Are you suggesting to dump those watt-hungry WUs and concentrate on "efficient - most points per watt WUs"? :-) Oh god please don't joke about dumping wu's somebody will read this and think it is a good idea. If a WU is dumped then instead of one person having...

Re: Incorrect GPU detected

Just put the card in a Windows machine and same error.
GPU-z gives the device ID as 1002 - 68E1

Incorrect GPU detected

I have a Radeon HD 5450 but fah is listing it as a ManhattanP [AMD Radeon HD 6230]

AMD drivers identify it correctly:

Code: Select all

root@speedstar:/var/log# amdconfig --list-adapters
* 0. 03:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series

* - Default adapter

Re: GROMACS 4.6

We're looking at it. Unfortunately, Gromacs 4.6 sets CPU optimizations at compile time rather than run time (which is when Gromacs 4.5 and prior set optimizations). Therefore it presents a more complicated set of options for FAH. We definitely have plans to develop 4.6-based FAH cores, however. Wou...

Re: Issues with the Client and Core

Hi I have uploaded my log to pastebin, it starts at the point of finishing the WU (Next unit percentage is set to 100) and ends when I change config to get normal units.

Re: Issues with the Client and Core

Usually there is other SMP work that bigadv systems can process, if you have specific examples of this not happening please post them. This would include system and configuration information and logs showing which servers were contacted for work assignments. There may be other issues involved in wh...

GROMACS 4.6

I am wondering when fah will start using gromacs 4.6, it is now out of beta and released and comes with support for new cpu instruction sets and much better support for bulldozer and piledriver cpus, a lot of bigadv systems use bulldozer so this would boost the amount of work that gets done by quite...

Re: Issues with the Client and Core

There are several threads about ext4, for example viewtopic.php?p=228279 and viewtopic.php?f=55&t=17972 Its not just ext4 though, it happens on any journaled file system that uses correct semantics, its just harder to see it happening on etx3. One of the main problems with this is that it actua...

Issues with the Client and Core

1) bigadv server goes down for updates and all bigadv rigs go idle, why not assign them normal WUs? or at least say in the logs that the server is down for upgrades. 2) folding core are broken on linux with etx3 and etx4 (more etx4), they make an un-necessary number of file-system calls causing the ...

Re: Multi OS folding

Ah well most of the time my desktop is unused but I do use it for gaming sometimes, I had heard that running FAH on linux gets you 15% more points but it sounds like its not worth folding on two os's. I could install a linux partition and fold on there and when I want to use windows switch to window...

Multi OS folding

Hi is wish to set folding up so that I have a windows partitions and a linux one, and they both work on the same WU so if I switch OS's it picks up where the other left off.

Basically can I have FAH run from the same directory in multiple OS's so that I can switch OS's and continue folding?
