Project: 2665 (Run 1, Clone 850, Gen 51) 5 times on step 28

Hi this wu has eue'd on me 5 times all at the same step, thought this was supposed to stop after 3 failures. Down the core twice, in any case think it is a bad wu. [18:25:52] Completed 65000 out of 250000 steps (26 percent) [18:44:24] Writing local files [18:44:24] Completed 67500 out of 250000 step...

Re: Please Split Mac and Linux SMPs +New WUs?

Guess the only way to find out for sure would be to try it. :ewink: I was also referring to asking for or seeking a couple of new volunteers who would just look for those type items. Obtw I do what I can, but time is one thing I don't have a lot of, so I couldn't be one of them. Just something to th...

Re: Please Split Mac and Linux SMPs +New WUs?

Thanks Bruce, What I was talking about was possibly a floater on top with the current issues effecting Linux SMP. One moderator or a volunteer could cut and copy to and from applicable forums. If a server that effects three then post in the the appropriate place along with a quick copy and paste her...

Re: Please Split Mac and Linux SMPs +New WUs?

I agree, I don't need mac info and I am sure they don't need linux stuff. It would also be wonderful if I could just come to one place to find out all the information on Linux SMP issues. That includes new WU info, problems with points, issues with cores, etc. Right now you not only have to go throu...

Re: Best way to set up folding on Mom's computer

Hi Bruce, Thanks for the answer. I just got it set up and for now with two units set at 100%. FAH seems very aware of its surroundings, when two units are running all 4 cores fold at around 50%, with Super Pi running on core 0 then the other three pick up to 75% and with an instance of super pi on c...

Re: Best way to set up folding on Mom's computer

No, no video editing, but she plays a lot of those flash over the net type games that can't count on any gpu or sound card so use the heck out of the cpu. So I know like 1487 or 9 used tons of ram and just two on a dual core with 2 gbs was noticable. I would hate to have eight of those going on a qu...

Best way to set up folding on Mom's computer

I am going to get my mom a quad core combo with 2 gb of ram, we will be recycling her XP home. Now I won't be doing SMP, mom can't and shouldn't be asked to handle that. I will set it up as a service and it must fold in the background (yes she knows it is there but doesn't want to be able to tell it...

Considering you can put together a Q6600 system for around $500 to $550 vs the PS3 at $400 I would go with the Q6600. I don't know if points are a good indication of the importance of the contribution, but I would think it should be. A PS3 gets around 900 ppd while a oc'ed quad can generate 2800 ppd.
