Hello ! Thanks again for all your feedback. The GPU is in a full length slot x16 slot that is operating at x1. Hello all - Thanks for your feedback so far. I got a 8-pin adapter for the GPU power connection and it has not made any difference. I have tried two difference PSUs. 300W Seasonic and 450W Corsair. No difference in performance. On both machines I am now using the most recent nVidia driver package. T...

See attached image. It seems like there is no bottleneck currenty, at least to me. Especially for such a big drop in PPD compared to the other system (it has an i5-3570K).

I'm having a similar but more severe problem with one of my (brand new) GTX 970s. It is only at about 60-65% GPU utilization and only netting about 60-70K PPD. It is a brand new Asus Strix 970.
