Re: Amd Vulkan beta driver & Fah

@Bryman: Maybe you can stick to your other thread reporting what you are doing with your GPU? viewtopic.php?f=38&t=28667 Guess I did say a little more info then I needed to.. basically what I was trying to say is that if you want a program to use the gpu near 100%, then run OCCT , but make sure...

Re: Crimson Drivers bugged?> Overheating killing Graphics Ca

Sad realy- we shouldn't have to check temperatures and fan speeds, we should have sensible driver fan profiles to keep temps down! Yeah... about that.. lol My fans were messed up from the start - only one fan would run unless the fan speed was above 80%... Then one day my fans just randomly started...

Re: Amd Vulkan beta driver & Fah

What makes you think Fah is not using more than 60%? The Fah CPU stress test is known to test a CPU as hard if not harder (and hotter) than OCCT. And the CPU client isn't far behind that. Fah has a special talent for optimizing performance to squeeze every CPU cycle to make the science go faster. I...

Re: Amd Vulkan beta driver & Fah

The 13.4.1 beta has been working well for me overall. Outside of the occasional wu that doesn't seem to stress the card enough like my current 13104 (2, 31, 51) gpu load never hits 100% always stops at 99% temps low too 48-49c, still TPF is only 4 seconds slower than the 16.3 driver. Last week I re...

Re: Crimson Drivers bugged?> Overheating killing Graphics Ca

I've noticed that when running folding@home my gpu doesn't underclock, thus it prevents throttling Also, you should check the temps every once in a while just in case.. I do it like every 30 minutes lol, but there's no need to do it that often Your GPU should of shut itself off to protect itself if ...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Lol, sorry I'll stop posting stuff on this topic that isn't related to the PPD after this post Ughhhhh, my video card is... and the drivers... so glitchy I even added a second fan to cool the VRMs and it lowered the core temp about 5 and the VRM temp like just 5 too... *sigh* VRMs easily get up to 1...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

So.... good news... I can now underclock with folding@home Bad news: for some reason my video card is only underclocking to 500mhz core 1425mhz at idle I tried shutting off my computer and turning it back on... did not fix the problem I guess this is good though... I can underclock with folding@home...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Ah, I see the problem... it caps the wattage for the core at about 370 Even as the amperage of the PCIe #1 was going up, the wattage was still not going above 370 So really when the amperage reports 40 on the psu, the wattage on the video card is about 440 (410 watts for the core + 30 watts for the ...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

The temps were going up pretty fast but not insanely fast near the beginning and middle... but near the end OCCT said something about my gpu hitting 95 and I had to refocus the window, then the temps started skyrocketing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VUL0sKSEto The VRM temp especially exploded I ...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

I think I will add a second fan to my GPU if it fits... I overclocked my GPU to 1020mhz and the core only got up to about 90 but the VRM was hitting 110 which was causing the GPU to throttle... I don't even know why it throttles at 110... it doesn't shut off until 135 Or I could just.. not overclock...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Still just tape.. but I think the fan is hitting against the heatsink... it's kind of making a clicking noise Could be the pump of the H80i... but I put my ear right next to it and I think there's a clicking coming from the fan Might need to reposition it It's 28°C in the room right now... I need to...

Well.... 90% is better than 25%... I think I'll keep it at 6 threads for the CPU folding

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

*sigh* I'm still getting about a 20,000 drop in PPD if I have cpu folding enabled with 6 threads and gpu folding going versus just gpu folding going... I actually get more PPD by disabling cpu folding Well... if my computer is completely idle I think it's only about a 10,000 drop... but if I'm just ...

mmonnin wrote:I've twist-tied a case fan onto a GPU heatsink in years past to 'replace' a dead fan. Do what you have to do to keep temps down.
I might do that if the tape doesn't hold... but for now it's good

Temps are pretty good... and noise is almost completely silent
