Re: Low PPD on some WUs
I put the fan back on and gave it gaps so it could breath and just layered a bunch of tape on top of each other in several places and the temps have dropped about 6°C I was gaming and all of a sudden my game started lagging really bad so I checked my video card temps and they were 101 so I checked t...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
*sigh* the fan fell off so I put it back on and now temps are 10° warmer than they were before... I'm getting 93 running folding@home instead of 83... I guess that's still okay... but they could be much better If I run 860mhz 1 volt on games temps are well below 80 and I think it's stable I wish I c...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
Eh, VRM temp is okay It's actually cooler with the one fan I put on versus only one of the fans running on the stock fans It's about 85 degrees core temp 95 VRM temp versus 80 degrees core 98 VRM temp PERFECTLY safe temperatures... the video card doesn't start throttling until the VRM temp hits 110 ...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
So it's not super efficient... Temp is about 70°C with the noise of about 60% fan speed while it would only take about 50% fan speed for that temp... but not too bad... it'll work And I can always turn the fan speed down Now... I have the fan blowing air out of the video card... is that the best way...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
Wait... I think I figured out how to do it
You only have to line up one screw with the fan... and it's going to need to hang off a side anyway...
Uh.. I'm actually still confused...
I guess I could... use... duct tape? or something

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
So.. I took the video card apart and I have no idea how to strap the case fan on http://i.imgur.com/cOvoCav.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4T32rXr.jpg These were the fans that weren't working http://i.imgur.com/BK4e1rn.jpg The stock fans kept going really low https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iqs0Eq2fog I co...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
*sigh* I don't feel like buying new fans for a 3+ year old card I guess I could go liquid cooling... Contacting the manufacturer for a RMA might be easier.... (Unless it's time to upgrade your cards.) Yeah I would.. But by the time I figured out one fan wasn't working properly, the RMA window had e...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
So... I was able to get the fans started back up by stopping the fan... but it has to be stopped quick and for a split second for it to work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iqs0Eq2fog So I also can't underclock my 7850 when running folding@home.. but it lets me overclock My video card does, however...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
Probably... the video card fan has always needed to be above 80% to have the second fan run I tried using my finger to slow/stop the fans again and it didn't work... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQDtgIHuoFI It just randomly starts up when it wants to It never goes above the fan speed I have it se...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
So... it happened again I set fan speed to 100% and after a few seconds the fans became inaudible... I felt underneath the card and felt a small amount of air being pulled in... the fan was just spinning really slow... I slowed it down even more with my finger and instantly the fan speed went back u...

Also.. the GPU usage starts doing this.. almost like it's trying to throttle but can't

That's always how it's been when the temp goes high... but normally the forcing fans to 100% works... it's still doing it, but the fans aren't responding... they are staying at 0%

Re: Low PPD on some WUs
Ugh.. my video card fans keep going all the way down... it keeps hitting 105 and shutting the video card off... The first 2 safety measures (forcing fans to 100% and throttling) are not working... it is setting the fan speed to 100%.. but the fans are at a very low rpm for some reason... and my vide...
