Re: Amd Vulkan beta driver & Fah

... gpu load never hits 100% always stops at 99% temps low too 48-49c... I wouldn't worry about that 1%. There's always some time spend moving data between RAM and VRAM through the bus. The time to move data actually causes a bigger percentage of wait-state on a fast card than on a slower one becau...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Dang... I thought it was stable... restarted after 18 hours :/

No idea what thing I changed to not make it stable, though :/

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Basically my computer just kept shutting off on me... sometimes it would freeze for couple seconds and then shut off and sometimes it would just turn off... One time when I was playing a game the game closed then a split second later the computer froze and then a couple seconds later the computer s...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Said the cpu WU crashed again.. only had my processor clocked to 4.2ghz I did, however, make my memory timings tighter... not sure if that's what caused it It's stable in prime 95 and linpack, but they don't do crap... I ran prime 95 for about an hour total (about 10 minutes 6 times) and my computer...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Yes, I didn't say prime 95 put more stress on the CPU, I simply said that it made the processor hotter Gromacs got the core temp up to 93, while Prime 95 got it up to 104 But 4.7ghz seemed to run fine for 30 minutes, I know that's not nearly long enough to tell if it's stable or not but it'll at lea...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Even ran at 4.7ghz... maybe I just didn't have enough voltage when I ran folding@home or something Also it's wrong when it says it gets the cpu hotter than prime 95 The Gromacs cpu tester got the temp up to 93 and prime 95 got it up to 104 This was at 1.375 volts 4.7ghz Not sure exactly how much vol...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Okay... this Intelburntest thing isn't working very well I have my processor at 4.6ghz and it's been 15 minutes and it hasn't had an error... folding@home would of errored almost instantly at that frequency Although the temperature is getting up to 95°C even with fans turned up.. voltage is about 1.3

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Well, only had time to run it for 40min before I left (guess I could of left it going) but anyway... no errors or anything, ran 160 times

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

You don't want to run your CPU unstable, this will cause errors in any APP once in a while. And can even corrupt your file system if wrong values are saved. You need to test your CPU overclock if it is stable. IntelBurnTest worked best for me. Enter 10000 times and stop after 1 hour. Your CPU is st...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

Well... PPD is back down to ~15,000 The one I'm folding right now only has a base credit of 2,700... the one I did a few days ago had a base credit of 10,400 http://i.imgur.com/Va3T5Vw.png @Bryman I would recommended that you change your CPU to use only 6 Threads an Even Number and not Fold on Odd ...

Re: Low PPD on some WUs

My processor was at 4.4ghz, at 4.6ghz Gromacs couldn't even start I'm guessing it's my hardware I'll just turn my clock speed down to 4.3... will still be plenty fast for games Also my processor is running about 85°C at 80% cpu usage because I don't like fan noise so I have my fans turned pretty muc...

Re: Amd Vulkan beta driver & Fah

History lesson: In the early days of GPU folding, many GPUs had so many threads that it could finish the calculations before the PCIe bus could supply data for the next portion of the calculations. GPUs have gotten more powerful and PCIe buses have gotten faster, but not in lock-step. Also, protein...

Re: Amd Vulkan beta driver & Fah

*sigh* what I ment is it's running as fast as it can for the calculations it's doing OCCT can use more of the GPU, is all I meant Run OCCT and look at the power consumption, compare it with folding@home I didn't necessarily mean that folding@home wasn't using as much of the GPU as it could I just te...
