Re: Integrated GFX utilization in 8.3.5

Pause appears to work only globally, not for a single WU.

Integrated GFX utilization in 8.3.5

Just uninstalled 7.6 and installed 8.3.5: AMD Ryzen 7 5600G Cezanne on MSI MPG X570 gaming Plus MoBo, 32 GB RAM, MSI GTX 1050ti Aero ITX 4G. Monitor attached to Integrated GFX. With Integrated GFX disabled, Folding on CPU and 1050ti, still see significant resource utilization and temperature rise on...

OK. Do I understand that if I set gpu = true, a gpu slot will NOT be added when I restart the client?

OK. Found the client had defaulted to Light; fixed it.

What is the name of the option switch to keep the slot from being added?

Dual GPU - Ryzen 5700G and nVidia 1050ti - "Paused: Waiting for idle"

I've been Folding for many years, but have not been on the forums for a while. I just replaced an old Intel computer with a new Ryzen 7 5700G (Cezanne embedded GPU) rig. I transferred my old 1050ti to the new rig (MSI X570 Gaming Plus MoBo, 32 GB RAM). This is my first experience with multiple GPUs ...

Re: Why does voltage drop on 12v rail when card folding

What is the capacity of the 12V rail on the PSU? What CPU and motherboard? While the 12V rail may not be dropping to 1.9V, it may be dropping low enough to eventually cause damage to the CPU, GPU, or motherboard.

Re: Help with removing FAH software

FINISH the current WU if possible, shut down the app, and either run the uninstall.exe or delete the client and data folders.

Re: SSD drives

In general, unless you are an extraordinarily heavy data rewriter, an SSD will last far longer than its technical life span. That is, you will likely get a newer/bigger/faster one before it wears out. SSDs have evolved significantly (e.g., TRIM, wear leveling, garbage collection...) since they becam...

Re: My fan is on even when it's set to low.

No I'm folding with the cpu and the gpu. I'd love to put a new fan in, but I don't have a tower and my laptop is a couple weeks old, I haven't worked on much for years and I'm not ready to tear it apart... Where can I pull up the info you posted? MANY (most?) laptops are not set up with sufficient ...

Re: COVID Only settings.

Ensure you have client v7.6.13 on all machines. Still, note the statement in the "Preference" block of Configure | Advanced | Cause Preference. It is a PREFERENCE, NOT a guarantee. If there are no COVID work units available for your machine configuration when you are ready to download, ano...

Re: B450 Chipset overheating with Ryzen 9 3900X + RX5700XT

Ah, yes. Cooling a Ryzen 9 3900x on a B450 motherboard. Fun and games. I'm running an RTX 2070 Super in mine. . . . There's a few other tweaks I've done like *). reducing to 12 threads and making sure each thread runs on a separate cpu core *). reducing cpu max power state to 99% *). reducing the g...

Re: B450 Chipset overheating with Ryzen 9 3900X + RX5700XT

The X570 has active cooling because it inherently uses more power. Unless you trace the cause of the overheating, it is unlikely the X570 will be a solution in and of itself. Also, I don't see any micro-ATX X570 boards listed on Newegg... Just found out that the B550 motherboard is available in mic...

Re: B450 Chipset overheating with Ryzen 9 3900X + RX5700XT

I am totally new to this project and have an overheating issue: B450M Pro VDH Max MSI Board, Ryzen 9 3900X, RX5700XT GPU: While folding in medium, the mainboards chipset heats up to more than 90°C and sometimes the system will crash and restart. The boards chipset has a passive cooling block. Could...

Re: CPU Temps on Ryzen 5 3600 w/Radeon 5500XT

The down side appears to be that the CPU does not downclock at idle. Even so, idle power consumption is still at around 24 Watts, same as with PBO+CPB enabled. Update: It appears the clocks do reduce slightly at idle, to 3189 (3.2 GHz); and idle power consumption is down to 23 Watts (all info per C...
