Re: Connection problem 18.218.241.186 & 155.247.164.214

"If we now have twice the number of folders working as we had a week ago" Try more like 100 times as many as a ballpark guess, and 1000 times as many would not shock me. One team ALONE (PC Master Race) has added almost 18,000 (yes, Eighteen THOUSAND) new folders in the past week, and there...

Re: folding broken?

Note that "anonymous" is not *A* user, it's the default setting for the client if you don't put your own username in.
That's probably HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of users right now.

Re: out of work?????

For prerspective, one team ALONE has added about 18,000 new users in the last week (PC Master Race). There is no way to tell how many new "anonymous because of the default client setup" folders have been added to the default team - but I'd guess HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS and perhaps as high as...

Re: GTX 1080 Ti Review (finally)

Running LINUX, a 1080 ti takes less than a 5% hit on PPD due to bandwidth limitations on a 1 lane PCI-E 2.0 via a riser.
Running Windows is a MUCH bigger hit by report.

Perhaps put your new high-end RTX cards on the MB slots that are 4-lane or more and your older cards on the riser(s)?

Re: Hardware PPD list

The linked "hardware PPD" list is a bit optimistic, unless you are going to push your card HARD. 80% of those numbers is more of a good ballpark figure if you are running your cards for longevity. I wouldn't bother with anything Nvidia older/lower than the GTX 1060, or anything AMD other t...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig

Linux takes a lot less of a hit from 1x PCI-E connections than Windows does. Newegg sells a few versions of "Rosewill" rack mount case designed to handle 6 or 8 GPUs in one case - but there aren't a LOT of motherboards that have more than 6 PCI-E slots per motherboard, outside of server-sp...

Re: Power Supply Efficiency

Anyone ever wonder how many watts could be saved (and thus dollars) if everyone on the project bumped up the efficiency of their PSUs a few notches? In my case, very little - all of my folding rigs run Seasonic X-series (gold), Seasonic SS-series (platinum), or Corsair AX-860 (Seasonic SS-series ma...

Re: Best PCIE 1x risers

The SATA connector ITSELF is only rated for 54 watts of 12VDC - many if not most cards used in folding WILL PULL MORE POWER THAN THAT FROM THE MOTHERBOARD/RISER. Just don't do it - the PCI-E motherboard connector HAS A 75 WATT SPEC for 12VDC alone and there have been cards that EXCEEDED THAT SPEC by...

Re: RTX 2080 Ti & GTX 1080 Ti low PPD?

63% power limit is WHY you are getting low performance.
Folding wants your cards to run as much power as they can to get max PPD, due to the way Quick Return Bonus is calculated even a SMALL amount of higher clock rate makes a BIG difference.

Re: When the core 22 will be tested?

It would appear that the wait should have been longer - out of all of my machines, only ONE has not had massive BAD WORK UNIT issues - so far.
No overclock on ANY of them, usually running somewhat less than design TDP so if anything they're UNDERclocking - they were 100% stable with CORE_21

Re: GTX 1070ti Review

The first driver version from NVidia that supported the 1070 ti at all seems to be the highest performance, in the testing I've done. Also seems to be the most reliable so far, though I've seen a couple of folks recommend the 391.35 drivers I've not had the chance (YET) to test with those on the 107...

Re: F@H large scale survey -> please read this post !

Curecoin / Foldingcoin do not have forums to any real degree, though there is at least one thread in the bitcoin.talk forums about each.
EVGA does, and they have several of their regular and long-time folders talk about rigs occasionally in there.

Re: Core 22 on Advanced

Core 22 is giving nothing but "bad work unit" errors on my machines that use a GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 ti on those cards ONLY. Have tried deleting the entire Core_22.fah directory (it redownloaded and started working correctly on the various GTX 1070/1080/1080ti cards in the same systems) - n...

Re: Non-standard Motherboard with Eight PCIe x16 Slots

You don't need 3-phase for high power levels into US homes - standard 220 volt split-phase is widely available at the 600 amp level (though that's usually for businesses), and I've seen them go as high as 1000 amps on 2 occasions. More than 200 amps isn't COMMON to residences, but it's getting more ...

Re: Low PPD from 4x 1080tis (~400k each) - help please!

Under LINUX, you can't start up the Folding client 'till XWindows has initialised, as it won't find the GPUs prior to that. The standard "put the folding initialize script" in /etc/rx0.d (and rc1.d et cetera) CAUSES issued due to this, and really needs to get changed, as XWindows is NOT RU...
