I've suggested to the project managers for 14561/3 that in the future they set a Collection Server in the Beta thread for these WUs.
Likely all the stuck at send jobs are overwhelming the poor server as soon at it comes up after being rebooted but it is still dishing out jobs.

Re: 5700XT: fans don't start even at over 100C
Go in to the Radeon Driver and manually set the fan to 60% or so. Ive seen this kind of behavior under Linux as well as it seems it is a "feature" of the AMD Drivers to sporadically either mis report the fan speeds or the fan control algorithm to go a little crazy.

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home
... As for the 2060 Super, it got knocked off the list by the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. Are you basing your list on theoretical performance rather than measured results? I have 2 RX5700XTs from 2 different AIB vendors and can say with certainty that they are worse performers than the RTX 2060 Super an...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig
It depends on the GeForce. Eg the NVIDIA originals will all fit. Anything that doesn't use more than 2 slots will work. The server airflow is designed for passive cards it is true, but that should be fine I'd think as the server fans are going to be generating a lot more airflow than gaming cards w...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig
CPU should be 2.5+Ghz to feed fast GPUs. On Windows it needs minimum pcie 3.0 x4 for fast GPUs and on Linux pcie 3.0 x1 or else it bottlenecks. is this why my gtx 1060 doesnt give me good ppd with my hp z220 xeon e3 1245 v2 ? it runs only pcie 2.0 I use an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC (Short-Board) in the ...

Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig
You'll only find PCIe bifurication on HEDT, workstation or server boards, its not a thing on consumer boards, especially on intel who segment their product stack so much. If you are looking at this seriously I would possibly look at a X399 board with a good amount of expansion and a cheap 1900x. Yo...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
Got the 5.5.14 Kernel working. Had to: uninstall the amd drivers install new kernel reboot install amd drivers with --no-dkms option reboot Folding picked up the current WUs that were in progress and resumed them No noticeable differences in production :( I don't regret getting the 5700XTs and I hop...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
Tried a mainline Kernel 5.5 to see if the OpenCL enhancements AMD put in place had any effect. Unfortunately though the preview driver would not compile against Kernel 5.5.14. So the GPUs are working as well under Linux as under Windows producing a little under 1MPPD (975.31 & 977.14kPPD on a 24...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
Its Alive! Thanks to @rainmaker his instructions and the Preview version 20 drivers and the other fixes all worked like a charm. Definitely easier than the first time I tried to get NVidia cards working under Linux. Both GPUs are folding away each with an estimate of a little over 1MPPD 10% into the...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
The hardware has arrived. It's folding under Windows for now so I can get a base-line of what to expect. About 1MPPD per card so far

Re: Recommend one or more GPU's for my circumstances
If you can find them on sale the EVGA RTX 2070 Super Hybrids are nice. They include a 120mm AIO liquid cooler and run nice and quiet. I have 5 of them and can run 2 in a large chassis and they are much quieter than running 2 dual-fan or triple-fan cards even in a large case as you generally have to ...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
I found it quite easy OP, so you should be OK (Threadripper 3960X and Vega 56 on Ubuntu 18.04.4). ... Thanks! I’ll definitely give that a try, but I expect to have some issues with OpenCL. Moved some hardware around today and freed up: Fractal Meshify S 2 x 140mm Corsair AF front-intake 140mm Fract...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
Good luck with Linux and AMD drivers ... Thanks - Like I said I need a project to keep me going but I fear some Kernel-Fu will be required to get this going. I believe either you or @foldy mentioned in another thread that he had a version of FAHBench built against OpenMM_22. I'm thinking usi...

Re: Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
Thanks for those links. Good to have soem information specific for Folding. I've been doing some Googling and it appears that most of the info for the RX 500-series cards is also applicable to the Navi cards. It does appear, however, that you need at least 18.04.3 to get the kernel support for Navi ...

Anyone Folding with a 5700XT on Ubuntu 18
I'm at home under Quarantine for the next two weeks so I'm taking advantage of this and I've ordered a PowerColor Red Dragon 5700XT and one of the Gigabyte tri-axial 5700XTs to give them a try. Another goal is to update my Linux Folding HOWTO for my Folding Team. I must admit that other than my trus...
