Re: When the core 22 will be tested?

if the PCIe express lane is the current limitation, they should optimize their program. Especially since the data and program itself is fairly small in size, it could be loaded in VRAM; and use two GPU threads for spreading tasks locally. Basically getting everything done from the GPU. There's no re...

Re: When the core 22 will be tested?

Do you think that the future of computing will be graphics cards or CPU? CPUs are heading towards hexacores and more; it wouldn't surprise me, if a home computer in 10 years, would have between 10 to 50 low-power cores, and inevitably a system that exists just entirely out of 'gpu cores' as CPU cor...

Re: When the core 22 will be tested?

Looking at the future of computing, I hope the new core supports and is optimized for more cores. It seems desktop PCs are getting more power efficient, by running on smaller lithography, allowing higher core count, and higher CPU speeds. Instruction sets that are ancient are removed and replaced by...

Re: FAH software closed or open?

Funny, it's kind of counteractive. Native kind of means "born of", or "originates from". I would say the 'desktop client' would run native. And the native (browser) client, doesn't run natively, because it runs from a browser (even though the browser runs the exe file natively). ...

Re: Unable to fold via Linux

I have the same situation on GalliumOs 2.1 (16.04 LTE, which also uses deb files and is based off Xubuntu, which is based off Ubuntu).
Same issues.
The client remains passive.
Best bet for now, is to install Google Chrome browser, and run the NaCl Client from the browser.

Re: Headless Arch Linux [Mining to F@H]

I've noticed, that my Core i7 4500u processor got very slow results running the client at -1 or 3 or 4 CPU cores under Windows. I only have GalliumOS as alternate OS, and haven't been able to run the client on it. Only from Google Chrome browser. But in Windows, I found the best results with the cli...

FAH software closed or open?

Is the FAH software closed or open source?

By this, I mean to ask, if there was a possibility to make FAH client run any better on my CPU, would I be able to adjust some factors to make this so (eg: enable MMX/SSE or other advanced options; not meaning the 'core count' option of the native client)?

Re: Client vs browser, performance differences?

I suppose that's why the work units of the client are larger?

Client vs browser, performance differences?

Are there any performance differences between running the client, or running the program in the browser?

I notice I can squeeze 10-20% more performance out of the browser, if I would give nacl64 or nacl_helper in Linux (the ones that eat the CPU) a higher thread priority.

ok, seems that the folding works on a chrome browser, but I'm still not able to start the client.

Gallium OS & FAH help

Hey guys, I have a small netbook, running Gallium OS. It has the Chromium browser, and the webpage doesn't seem to work. I was able to install the deb packages of the control panel and Client, however the FAHviewer gave me an error installing: Preparing to unpack .../freeglut3_2.8.1-2_amd64.deb ... ...

Client on more than 1 pc is ok?

I am currently running 1 client on my home pc, and the other pc's are running via browser. Soon my Server will arrive. Is it ok to install a client over there as well? The tasks given to me on my current pc, are 12 hours and 5 days long work units. I don't think my pc will be running those tasks as ...

Re: Server advise!

The PCIE 1x slot, has 250Mbits both way data transfer. That's 31MB/s. How is that slow? The download package from FAH is only a few MB large. What data is transferred over the bus? Isn't it just a few megs of folding material, and a few megs of results? I just don't understand why PCIE 1x slot would...

Re: Intel® HD Graphics

I currently am in the process of installing an Intel Xeon system, 12 cores 24 threads, with a single Nvidia GTX1050. Price per performance was the best on this card. the GTX 960 was going for $55-60, The GTX1050 was going for almost the same price The 1060 was going for $260, And the 1080 was going ...
