Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Has Fah Donor Stats really lost 2 million donors? Yes I figure this should be a new topic but I can't find a new topic button to click, so I have done it here. On my own stats I keep track of the donors, and yesterday there were 3,012,048 and today it is a suspiciously round figure of 1,000,000. Do...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Well, after reinstall - which had no obvious effect - the jobs continued to completion as they had been doing. Because I created the Ubuntu 24.04 version aof Z442 as a new User called Z442u (my usual process), the experimentation and Core Fails only make Z442u unlikely to receive a bonus any time so...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Hmmm .. the reinstall seems to have taken zero time, but I don't know if that is good or bad. Fahclient still seems to be running. I will try a restart.

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
1. I logged back in to report that the above setup was happily working through a Core23 job as below: 9:35:42:WU01:FS01:0x23:There are 4 platforms available. 09:35:42:WU01:FS01:0x23:Platform 0: Reference 09:35:42:WU01:FS01:0x23:Platform 1: CPU 09:35:42:WU01:FS01:0x23:Platform 2: OpenCL 09:35:42:WU0...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Out of curiosity I decided to try 18251 with Fah under Ubuntu rather than W10. My Z440's boot drives are Samsung 970 EVO NVME via a PCI3 adapter card in their second PCI 3 x 16(16) slot, and from time to time I swap a W10 NVME with an Ubuntu NVME. I've been too busy folding lately to do this, so the...

Re: Fold on a set schedule
A contributor gave me the same advice about LAR systems and I had sought it for the same reason: trying to minimise electricity costs by limiting folding to "off peak" times, which for me are 10pm-7am, while also trying to avoid delaying the science by pausing jobs. My supplier's rate is c...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Argh. In accordance with Murphy's Law, of course the next job for the TU106 on Z443 was 18251 and we are getting 0.6 M PPD with TPF 7m 16s and ETA 12 hours away. So that's it for today. Rev 1 3 Feb 2025. Waiting for another 18251 to finish 14-hour run on Z443 at 0.6M PPD. Meanwhile, no change in LAR...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
For anyone having this issue...... Use whatever method you can to check work unit history. If you get project 18252, it is identical to 18251, but with the Core 26. I was just made aware of this from @muziqaz in the Discord channel. IF this fixes the problem some of us are having, I'm sure the rese...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Finale: 1. Despite selecting Alzheimer's Disease as a preference, Z803 did two overnight runs without picking up an 18251, so I gave up on that test and decided to do a trial on the Z440s that have 32GB RAM. 2. Z441 picked up an 18251 and was running at the usual 0.7M PPD when I caught it at about 5...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Thanks Nicholas - as you see above we have explored RAM issues to some extent and there is plenty of free RAM on my three Z440s with RTX2060s that perform badly on 18251 (2 with 32GB and 1 with 16GB). These devices have been doing little other than folding ~9 hrs/day for a couple of years, and the o...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Having set the three Z440/2060 systems to prefer cancer jobs it seems I kept them from wasting everyone's time and electricity on 18251 jobs that other devices could do more efficiently, and they are back to producing their usual PPD. Meantime, I noted in the project description that the protein in ...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Fair enough. This morning an 18251 run had just started on Z441 when I checked at 7am, so I paused it and switched off and it will start again at 8pm - a delay of 13+ hours but since the points don't matter to me and the $$ cost of electricity does, that's the solution for now. I noted on the projec...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
As suggested I checked old logs, though the earliest available were from the start of November, and for those 2060s the PPD for Project 18251 were all very similar and about one-third of what the same GPU does in general. So its certainly consistent at present. I did a test run on the weekend, when ...

Re: Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
Hmmm ... Very helpful to know it's not just me. And just to put the barista-grade fern on top, I had two of these low-PPD 18251 jobs running when I went to shut down the devices this morning. Ordinarily I try to limit folding to 10pm - 7am local time, (9 hours/day) when electricity is at the cheapes...

Project 18251 very low PPD on RTX 2060s
I am not fussed about PPD in general, but lately my three RTX 2060s are getting Project 18251 jobs that run for around 10-11 hours and are showing around 500K PPD performance against the usual 1.5-2M PPD for these devices and their settings, on other projects. Have just updated to latest NVIDIA stud...
