Re: Rack-Mount 8-GPU Dedicated Folding Rig
My 2c: systems with a PLX or Microsemi PCIE switch are pretty horrible to maintain, and often inject pretty gnarly bugs. I would personally stick with a traditional [CPU<--PCIE-->Device] architecture if it were my hardware. If you have a fancy third party software layer and a bunch of support to mak...

Re: F@H seems to be causing PSU power surges?
PSU is definitely the issue, your MLB is actually telling you as much. One significant difference that I havent seem mentioned between FAH workloads and gaming/rendering tasks such as furmark: Your CPU is using AVX istructions to fold, which use much more power at the CPU. The CPU is most sensitive ...

Re: 10000 cores to donate for 3 weeks. Help me set up FAHCon
Ive been getting steady CPU:18 jobs, currently working https://apps.foldingathome.org/project?p=14409.
I have a couple CPU:8 macbook pros set up as well and they seem to idle mostly, so It could be the 4.4Ghz 20T setup getting love from the assignment servers based on estimated points?

Re: Is there still a class/call for >24 core > 1TB mem?
 unfortunately writing a new description for a new project does get overlooked with everything else going on in the Labs. Tell me the project number(s) and I'll nag them, but everything new is COVAID19 11778 is issuing WUs to my GPU but has no description on the project page: https://apps.fol...

Re: Important feedback from a new user/donor
4. Add a slot state to the UI besides "Ready" for when the slot is ready and waiting for WUs to be issued: "Waiting for WU" or "Ready: Waiting for WU" This could help clarify to users why their HW is idling ("waiting for wu") instead of assuming there may be a...

Re: Point Inconsistency
I just wanted to add that my points havent increased in 36 hours roughly, despite turning in quite a few WUs.
I messaged the chap at Overclockers to see if he was aware.

Re: Best CPU slot settings for i7 6950x (10c20t)?
Mostly because there is more demand than the servers can handle. There is work, perhaps not for some specific configuration, but the available servers can only handle so many connections at a time. With all of the new systems looking for work the servers are sending out around 100,000 WUs an hour, ...

Best CPU slot settings for i7 6950x (10c20t)?
Hows it going! First post and all. I have a 6950x CPU alongside a couple Pascal Titan X GPUs and I have been folding the past few days. I have noticed that if I use the default "-1" value for thread count, FAH will spawn an 18 core slot. I basically get zero work units with the 18 core slo...
