Re: Active clients

I can guess the answers, but there's really no point in doing that. I'll ask Kasson to answer them. In addition to those questions, I'll add a couple more but not until I do some checking on the new server code that's being run on one or more of the servers. It could be counting clients differently...

Re: Active clients

Bruce, I agree that you've described how changes to those items would be expected to increase the active client count. The corollary expectation would be that if those items do not change, then neither does the active client count. It is this latter expectation that is not holding up under empirical...

Re: Active clients

Like erphy100, I have noticed an unexpected increase of the number of my Active clients in the past couple of months, usually doubling my 2 to 4 (though it was 3 a couple of days ago). Unlike erphy100, I am running 2 dedicated Linux machines each with 1 v6.34 SMP client (yes, I have verified this). ...

Re: Project: 2671 (Run 29, Clone 72, Gen 145) [fixed]

Thank you Dr. Kasson for your prompt action. As expected, my folder received this WU again after finishing the 2677 it processed after I flushed the earlier version. While I noticed the major reduction in steps to 500000, that still appears to be 2x what 2671 WUs usually are. I will let it run, but ...

Project: 2671 (Run 29, Clone 72, Gen 145) [fixed]

Project: 2671 (Run 29, Clone 72, Gen 145) appears to be a bad WU as it has 36500004 steps instead of the usual 250000 (146x bigger than usual) and will miss its deadline by months. I will flush this WU off my folder. Pande Group, please check and remove from the servers. (Log snippet below.) Thanks,...

Re: Project: 2671 (Run 59, Clone 80, Gen 122)

Two of my three dedicated folders still are battling this bad WU. It also doesn't have the decency to die gracefully -- had to kill the hung processes and flush it 4 times today so far.

Stanford, please, it's time to kill this one!

Re: Project: 2671 (Run 59, Clone 80, Gen 122)

One of my dedicated folders got this WU Friday. Restarting can produce a message saying deleting and continuing but really just hangs. When flushing this WU, it gets a new WU but upon completion gets this one again -- still. A second dedicated folder started this process this afternoon. I hope Stanf...

Re: Suggestion: download new WU before current one finishes

Okay, maybe I spent WAY too much time staring at a tiny datascope screen in a previous decade. However: We are talking about SMP (as in symmetric MULTIprocessing) clients communicating with the Stanford servers over what is normally a FULL DUPLEX comm link. Why should either the upload or download n...

Since my last post:
Project: 2671 (Run 37, Clone 79, Gen 79) (hung)
Project: 2671 (Run 32, Clone 41, Gen 88) (hung)
Project: 2671 (Run 51, Clone 50, Gen 89) (deleted and continued twice! yea!)

Re: List of SMP WUs with the "1 core usage" issue

Terrific news!

Two WUs have been hanging 2 of my folders multiple times today with this problem:
Project: 2671 (Run 37, Clone 79, Gen 79)
Project: 2671 (Run 51, Clone 50, Gen 89)

Greg, looking forward to uninterrupted 24/7 folding again

Re: List of SMP WUs with the "1 core usage" issue

One of my folders was served:
Project: 2671 (Run 37, Clone 79, Gen 79)
yet again, and it hung deleting yet again. Then it was served
Project: 2669 (Run 14, Clone 57, Gen 199)
6 times, hanging times 5 and 6.

Re: List of SMP WUs with the "1 core usage" issue

Two more WUs on my folders to report, both involving multiple hangs deleting (and hours lost):

Project: 2671 (Run 37, Clone 79, Gen 79)
Project: 2669 (Run 7, Clone 51, Gen 110)
