Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
That's where I thought I would find the /FAHClient directory too (aside from /Program Files x86) but it wasn't there. I would have never found it, never heard of that /VirtualStore, I actually had to do a search for "FAHClient" on the entire drive to figure this one out. Thanks!

Re: Why is my total WU stats in the thousands: I just starte
Right, I see. I see many teams below my donor stats, some have my user name in it. In my team the WUs is 613 instead of 2497, but I guess even inside my team someone could have used that name before. I guess I should have chosen a more distinctive name, which I will do from now on. I can't check the...

Re: GPU shows as available, doesn't get utilized
I'm new here but look at the log tab in the Advanced control , sometimes you'll have things like this: 02:45:56:WARNING:WU02:FS01:Failed to get assignment from '18.218.241.186:80': No WUs available for this configuration 02:45:56:ERROR:WU02:FS01:Exception: Could not get an assignment There is a shor...

Why is my total WU stats in the thousands: I just started?
I read the Introduction To Common F@H Jargon : WU - Work Unit is a small time-slice of protein processing that is downloaded by your F@H Client from the appropriate Server. Your system will process it and once it finishes folding, will upload the result to the Server and will request another WU unle...

Re: Is it better to leave the GPU slot to "Any disease"?
Thanks all for the insight. I don't want to mislead anyone as my question sort of implies you can set the cause for the GPU independently from the CPU one. I don't think that's the case actually. I'm using the web client. Sure for instance now my CPU is working on a project for COVID-19 and the GPU ...

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
Thank you for explaining. I changed it according to your suggestion. I think this is what you were explaining before: If the CPU slot is set at the default -1 then your machine will save one core for the CPU meaning you have 3 left for normal (high use) … medium will take one off that to give 2core ...

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
Ok, concerning the temporary solution I was using with 7.6.9 i.e. GPUs.txt + using a Powershell with Admin rights to launch the FAHclient and FAHcontrol, it all ended well for the GPU WU (19:24:57:WU01:FS01:Upload complete; 19:24:57:WU01:FS01:Server responded WORK_ACK (400)). Now I uninstalled every...

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
Also concerning my starting manually the FAHclient another user said something interesting in another post (viewtopic.php?f=61&t=34584): Another thing. I never saw that in Windows, but in Linux, that error can come from a permission problem: FAH hat to run as root to access OpenCL. If your Windo...

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
Yes sorry TPL, since adding the GPUs.txt file I now have in the log+system info: 16:14:22: GPUs: 1 16:14:22: GPU 0: Bus:1 Slot:0 Func:0 AMD:5 Ellesmere XT [Radeon RX 16:14:22: 470/480/570/580/590] 16:14:22: CUDA: Not detected: Failed to open dynamic library 'nvcuda.dll': The 16:14:22: specified modu...

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
Thanks! I checked but no, there are no extra options where you specified. I also checked on the individual slots config for extra options at the bottom, there is only paused = False but that's it. The OpenCL info from the log was always the same from the beginning, and hasn't changed, the OpenCL was...

Is it better to leave the GPU slot to "Any disease"?
As I just started using my GPU for folding, it's possible I didn't set the "cause" to COVID-19 before the WU was attributed (I'm not sure, I set it to COVID-19 when I noticed). I got Project 11763 (https://stats.foldingathome.org/project?p=11763). I'm no expert but I can see "Cause: u...

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
I hear you Neil-B but when the GPU slot wasn't added the CPU slot was also setup by default yet it was 3 for medium and 4 for high as described in my other post (viewtopic.php?f=61&t=34563). Unless there's something I don't understand from what you said. Thanks!

Re: Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the conf
Thank you all, adding the GPUs.txt file did work , even though it shows ELLESMERE XT instead of my manufacturer name (it's still a Radeon RX480). But now the CPU slot uses only 2 of my 4 cores at medium power and 3/4 and high, don't know why. The issue I had which is not related but similar to the o...

Adding folding slot for my GPU doesn't stick in the config?
I've read a few posts in the Problems with AMD/ATI drivers section. I'm a new donor with an older rig. I did an express install and by default there is no folding slot for my GPU, only for my CPU. My GPU is an Asus ROG strix RX480 8gb (AMD). So if that's going to work I know it's going to be with Op...

Re: Switching power "can cause some work units to fail"?
Thank you! Well the warnings text I posted came from the log in the advanced view indeed and I haven't seen anything in the log about fail or dumping except these warnings. But just to be on the safe side, once I did x+1 (high), I won't do x-1 (medium) for the duration of the work unit i.e. until it...
