Will you or I get everything we want?

No, but if you try sometimes. You get what you need.

Re: Change in BA requirements

I can only speak for my self. But from what I have seen, a few donors besides me just want clear concise answers to our questions.. From PG. Not guesses from other donors, not reading between the lines. did they mean this, did they mean that. I believe in FAH, it is a great cause and I am sure this ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

I only have a 9th grade education, I am not the sharpest knife in the chandelier. After 30 pages, I still can not figure out what the problem is in the first place. Why are they changing anything at all? 8/16 core Intel desktops will not be out until Q3 or Q4 I have learned. PG knew that the requir...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Can you just tell me in plain and simply english when you will increase the core count from 32? My 2P 32 core rig is folding happily, when will you prevent it from folding bigadv? Depending on the speed of your 32 core, it may be soon. They are going to cut the QRB return time, so you may not make ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

The 6272 run at 2.400ghz with turbo boost so your formula is off. The 6272 were 525$ x4 + 650$ for the MB + 200 for memory and another 100 for PSU + 80$ for heatsinks. Over 3000$ for the system. The 2600K system was 325$ +150 + 60 + 20 +100 is around 660$ or so. Why invest that much money for a 30% ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Closing the disparity between folding SMP and BA on the same rig, should be done. BA wu's are slightly overvalued. A 5% trim off BA points would help, imo. The majority of the disparity - which goes as high as 67%, should be done by increasing SMP points by approximately 30% . That will leave us wi...

Re: Change in BA requirements

Adak meet in the middle 80%+ There are quite a few helping with the Kill The SMP Backlog drive. I am pleased with the effort. We should make it a contest between teams. Who can fold the most SMP WUs in 5 days. ME, I have done 375 in 5 days  I am impressed, I thought I was kicking butt at a...

Re: Change in BA requirements

To me, that looks like a scaling issue. ............... Total speculation on your part. If you don't know don't answer. I'm not Linux savvy enough to even begin guessing ........ If you don't know don't answer. How should I know? Perhaps PG could set up some "sub-BA" SMP projects for BA ca...

Re: Change in BA requirements

I had broken it into smp 24 and smp 12 and smp 12. The PPD was half of what SMP 48 was. So that is 1/4 of what that system did with BA WUs. Not all cores were at 100% Some were 0% that's why I changed it back to smp 48. And If "Big Iron" is not good at regular smp, why would PG want us to ...

Re: Change in BA requirements

I can tell you all 48 cores were folding at 100%, 100% of the time, the Kracken was doing its thing.
If that means anything to you.

Re: Change in BA requirements

Why only 50% it is at 50 % on some WUs now. I think 90% to 100% is more in line with 4P server class hardware. Because they need the SMP WUs to be done and 4P server costs $$ to build and run. Plus look at the really fast return times. Fast returns is important to PG. 24 core AMD 2.1ghz BA 8101, 28....
