Re: v8.3.5 Restarted machine FAH fails OpenCL not supported: ... :CUDA not supported: cuInit() returned 100

The NVIDIA driver must be installed and the kernel module must be loaded under the current kernel. The module must be compiled and installed again whenever a new kernel is installed. This is usually automated by dkms or akmods. Run modinfo nvidia to verify the module is loaded. The OpenCL devel libr...

Re: NVidia + AMD iGPU -- another data point

They are in dedicated machines. The 4060 Ti is with an i7-13700K with the FahCore process affinity set to use an E-core with taskset. The 4070 Super is with an old i7-7700K. There is no CPU folding running. But these two GPUs were swapped between the machines about a month ago and had similar PPD be...

Re: Remote Management over Internet

Free remote desktop software is probably the best way to access one computer. Running your own VPN server is more complex. You wouldn't want to use port forwarding to expose the F@H client's port to the public internet.

Re: Linux BTRFS - Possible to change FAH directories?

Fragmentation isn't really a problem on SSDs. On hard drives, BTRFS can be defragmented with a command such as btrfs filesystem defragment -r / My log.txt file is currently only 600K and the logs directory is only 8MB. Are you sure it's the logs taking up all the space? My work dir is 98MB and cores...

The Bonus Status page can be used to see % finished for your account. https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus The Recent CPUs page can be used to see if a bonus was earned on recent WUs. https://apps.foldingathome.org/cpu I'm not aware of a way to see more details of WU history besides using a script t...

Re: Some errors and no points from GPU workload

My folding setup previously had RTX 3050, 2x 3060, 3060 Ti, 3070 and 3070 Ti at various times. I never saw errors with stock clock and voltage. They also never thermal throttled, even at full power limit. You can get the GPU clock to boost a little higher with the fan speed increased. Same story for...

Re: Where computers go to die

Even older Intel core CPUs had over 1,100 pins. A breadboard isn't practical. Then the CPU would still need a cooler/fan securely attached to dissipate heat. Plus, the wire would need to be heavy enough to handle the current draw or it would glow red like a toaster burner and melt. The motherboard V...

Re: Where computers go to die

The low end CPUs in Optiplexes don't support multiple socket configurations. Only higher end Xeons can do that.

The Optiplex BIOS and almost all Dells don't support overclocking.

Re: log file posting.

Looks like you don't have a passkey set up. None of the recent WUs earned the bonus, but you've completed 156 WUs. See:

Re: Curious different PPD Linux v. Windows 11

The PPD for individual WUs can be calculated at

https://apps.foldingathome.org/cpu

Search for your username, click a link in the "Last returned" column, then divide the Credit column by the Days column to calculate actual PPD for that task.
