Re: Folding in the summer (Was: Over 2 exaflops!)
It is expected that during summer upto half of FAH home PCs stop folding because of too much heat and power usage with air conditioning running. In autumn when users remember FAH again, especially cause of Corona-Virus rises again in parallel to influenza, hopefully they all return. And now can use...

Re: 14723 (Run 2539, Clone 2, Gen 20) - Guru Meditation
I already checked Event Viewer as posted above and there is nothing else reported in any category around that time in Event Viewer. Also there's been no errors since with any WU on either slot so I still feel it was specific to this one data set in-particular actually causing the affected core proce...

Re: What are best AMD drivers to use
The best are ideally the ones your hardware manufacturer supplies since graphics cards are made to a reference design but may not completely adhere to it. There's not really such a thing as a stock retail card, therefore sometimes using the generic AMD or NVIDIA driver for the card concerned can lea...

Re: Bootable F@H for COVID-19
You can a linux distribution to a USB stick properly like you would an internal drive instead of messing around with live ISO and persistence, just make sure that is the target drive during installation instead of any internal ones. I've done this before myself with Fedora and a Sandisk Ultra Fit US...

Re: The annoying "restart" incident.
I have to kill the process to try to restart it. Or.. when finally I can stop it the service is up by itself. So I don't feel I have the control about this service. Does anyone has a good way to do it? Simplest would be to restart your machine which will signal the client to terminate gracefully pr...

Re: 14723 (Run 2539, Clone 2, Gen 20) - Guru Meditation
Fair enough, if it happens again with another unit I will look into the stability of my system a little further* but the above really does seem to be the exception (pardon the pun) to the rule so far. *I'm not concerned about a lack of resources or RAM stability but will test the modules for errors ...

Re: Recommended Linux Installation & Configuration
Of course I have not tried every single package available for Ubuntu 20.04 . I have however tried every single package installed by the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS ISO plus the ones I added on top. Here's a list of installed packages on pastebin , too many characters for this forum. It will not be there for ev...

Re: Recommended Linux Installation & Configuration
On Ubuntu 20.04 you need to force install some dependencies, because FAHControl doesn't work out of the box. Those dependencies may work for FAH, but could, break the full operation of Ubuntu with other programs. No one has fully tested if they worked without issues. I guess I'm nobody then. As I r...

Re: 14723 (Run 2539, Clone 2, Gen 20) - Guru Meditation
For the system to run out of RAM there would have to be a massive memory leak, there's 32GB installed. The only errors in Windows Event viewer relate to FAH at times flagged in the fah logs when the crashes happened. As for other running programs, I had a game open but that uses minimal resources. I...

14723 (Run 2539, Clone 2, Gen 20) - Guru Meditation
Probably been jinxed given the earlier discussion today with PantherX about numbers of threads. PantherX mentioned some WU don't like 10 cores, maybe this is one of them? Note the system was not shutdown, did not overheat and has been folding fine until this particular CPU work unit this evening. Th...

Re: Need help in cpu usage tuning
You can't cheat the points system, what you see is an estimate of the final value. It goes down the longer the work unit takes to complete so even if you reduce folding power mid-working unit there's no points gain. Also, it is advisable not to adjust cores etc. when a unit is in progress as you may...

Re: Need help in cpu usage tuning
take out the cpus v=4 line and save the change. then post the exact specification of your CPU please It may not correspond to what the other guy has at all which would mean a higher than intended work load for your own CPU
