Re: Project 17435 (Run 0, Clone 172, Gen 111) Stalled Before
No one seems bothered by the fact that what I just described is the behavior of malware: a program entices a user to run it with the promise of some benefit but, when run, it consumes system resources without providing the purported benefit and, instead, causes undesired system behavior. I am bother...

Re: High CPU usage even on light mode (macOS)
If it is a dual-core machine with two threads per core, F@h should see four CPUs. In the advanced settings of FAHControl, you can set a parameter with a key of "cpus" and a value of "1" to use a single thread. I can't provide explicit directions on how to do this because I don't ...

Re: Version of installed Client
I just noticed that the version string is included in the Web Control window title. Not the most convenient place, but it works well enough for me.

Re: Version of installed Client
I agree that it would be nice to have more information about the client visible directly in Web Control. Version string would be a good start.

Re: WUs Expiring (Slow GPU)
2. There was some discussion about slow GPUs hogging WUs and delaying projects getting done. I haven't messed with overclocking these cards yet, but if I could get these cards to reliably turn in projects, but say I snuck in just under the deadline every time, are you saying that this would be a ne...

Re: Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux comput
As do I, but I resorted to a full system restore of a two-month old image that seems to have stabilized things. Unfortunately, I did not export the logs before overwriting the partition with the backup image. I only saved the contents of /etc. If I encounter similar behavior in the future, I will be...

Re: Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux comput
Show us the log of your situation and we'll help you fix whatever is misbehaving. I'm going to decline this offer. You asked why someone would want to run multiple clients and that is my reason. If my GPUs get locked at 100% usage by FAHCore_22 and I see no signs of progress after a day, I'm going ...

Re: Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux comput
For me, the motivation is to decouple the slots. With a single client, if one slot gets a work unit that misbehaves terribly and needs to be dumped manually, then that requires interrupting the work being done on the other slots in order to release the lock on the work database so that I can request...

Re: Run multiple instances of FAHClient on same linux comput
I have three instances of FAHclient running on Centos 8 Stream. I have three different configs stored under /etc/fahclient, three separate directories under /var/lib/fahclient/, and three separate systemd units to launch them. Each instance of the client has a different command-port and http-address...

Re: Odd GPU behavior - terminal window + FAHClient
Maybe it's just that FAH rewrites config and discards redundant statements. The default value for 'gpu' is 'true' so changing it to 'true' is logically the same as removing the 'false' modification from the default. On Linux systems, this is the case. FAHClient regularly normalizes the config file....

Re: Odd GPU behavior - terminal window + FAHClient
At least on Ubuntu, issuing the FAHClient command starts another client that burns power but doesn't actually get any work done. Thanks, Steve The second running instance is getting work done. It just uses all of the default configuration values, including folding as Anonymous, and drops the work i...

Re: Strange warning: No openc-device specified; using deprec
The message is a generic indication that something went wrong with Folding@home's attempt to interrogate the state of OpenCL on your system. If it proceeds to fold, using CUDA or any other means, then there is no issue and you can ignore the message. The client version is only logged when the client...

Re: centOS7, stop doesn't work --run-as and --pid-file not w
Most of the described behavior was already reported in https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/1610 and there are requests for the installers to provide a proper systemd init script at least as far back as v7.6.9.
