Re: Stuck in "Update_Core" status: Failed reading core packa
It probably did. Its anyones guiess if things comply with http standards or shortcuts were taken since the code is proprietary. As long as you got it working. But you will have to repeat this each time it gets updated, unless you can debug the problem. But for now you are up and running, and in the ...

Re: Entry point of procedure clReleaseDevice not found
Open Task manager and see if FAH is still running in the background?
Move to Web Client for start/stop if the FAHClient is still running in the background.
If FAHControl has crashed, terminate it from Task Manager.
If the Core is running but no FAHClient, then terminate and restart the client.

Re: Stuck in "Update_Core" status: Failed reading core packa
I wouldnt even bother complicating matters. Just grab the cores you need, untar them and put them in the cores directory they should be in. That way you can get folding. When you have everything working, then start debugging the problem by copying FAHClient to a new directory and running it from the...

Re: Clear Linux
Years back we had an issue with compiled cores that gave better performance on Intel over AMD, due to compiler optimisations. Basically the core looked for "Genuine Intel" or some other string and then used optimisations like SSE, but if it found nothing it ran without, which is somewhat s...

Re: Stuck in "Update_Core" status: Failed reading core packa
Download the cores manually and put them in the directory the old fashioned way and that might mitigate the problem for now. Long term you will have to work out why it isnt downloadinng it. Also check the perms on the folding directories. if you have somehow run it as root initially, it will lock al...

Re: Entry point of procedure clReleaseDevice not found
If it is overheating, a laptop cooling pad would negate a lot of the problem. Also open it up and vac any dust out of it, if its over a year old. Electronics attract dust and laptops always get clogged over time. Youtube should be able to help with opening it.

Re: Start fails,Missing fatBinaryCtl entry point in nvopencl
Use Disp[lay Driver Uninstaller or similar to get rid of the Nvidia driver. Run CCleaner and scan/fix everything, including the registry (make a backup of what you are erasing). Reboot. Reinstall the Nvidia Driver. Does that fix it? If not. Check your firewall software isnt sandboxing or virtualisin...

Re: All diseases have to wait for Corona.
I did not get any WU for corona today, but got for other projects. Also curious of another detail if someone can answer this: how would we know if the mystery has been cracked? Does the folding@home team find out instantly? Is it a longer process as in they have to sift through all of the resolved ...

Re: What good are points?
That's because the hardware has gotten SIGNIFICANTLY faster and people really don't like if a particular project is under-benchmarked on the points. I don't think workunits are a fair measure either because they can divide up the simulations in any way they like, and modern systems have the RAM and...

Re: What good are points?
Points are easy to come by nowadays. Back in years gone by you actually had to work hard for them. Ask the older folders about certain workunits from the 6xx series that circulated back around 2004-2005 and took one whole day to complete and were worth not a lot of points, back when processors were ...

I plugged a GTX 460 into a machine a month back so i could play Fallout New Vegas at a family members house. It still worked and the game too.

Re: Compute Cluster with a few Tesla T4 + Xeon Gold 6254
Their was a guy doing testing for Supermicro a while back running Tesla's, no idea if he is still active, but he might be your best bet for info. He had a thread about folding on Nvidia Volta somewhere, maybe New GPUs.

Re: F@H client on the Windows store will give more visibilit
Probably because they dont have the work to feed everyone currently folding, let alone adding more users that will join the masses that have no work to fold. Until they fix the infrastructure, adding clients is pointless. Advertising for clients, even more pointless.

Re: out of work?????
The problem isnt just the servers. Researchers have to generate new workunits and I dont think its an automatic system. Also their are a finite number of hours in the day. I havent had work for 24 hours. Admittedly its been a long time since we've had shortages on this level and ive been folding sin...

Re: Finding out when this results in something
Its not cynical when its true. Drug companies are greedy. But they also tend to be the only ones with the capital to create new drugs.
