Re: FahSpy (monitoring tool)

Hi all, I have just changed my team designation from Australia (186) to the Jmol team (44383) in the middle of doing a work unit, and i'm wondering why the user/teamname in Fahspy has turned red. I have checked my 5.03 client, and the new team number inside the client and also inside Fahspy is corre...

Updating cores on your computer

I don't know whether I'm imagining this or not, but the other day, my laptop had a "mini-crash" and when it rebooted and I looked at the f@h log file, it said that f@h had deleted the old AMBER core, and downloaded a new AMBER core (the code is below). Now my laptop seems to be folding a l...

Different cores on different machines.

Hi all, I have been noticing lately that some cores are faster than others on my machine. As you have probably noticed on some of my previous posts, I am running a 2 GHz laptop, and the current work unit that I am folding is using the Amber core. Whenever I run the Amber core, I seem to only be able...

Don't feel so bad; I'm folding at about 200-250 PPD at the moment on my humble little 2GHz laptop.

Re: Points per day on laptops

Just a quick update. On my humble little laptop, folding with the AMBER core, I am now doing 251 points per day according to FahSpy as I type this message.

Re: Update 5.03 to 6.2 and upload problems

Jack, When I had a similar issue a while back, I was told that both the 5.03 and the 6.20 version use the same cores (stored on your hard drive by the program), and therefore the points per day you are getting on 5.03 shouldn't change if you upgrade to 6.20. Also, the viewer on the 6.20 version isn'...

Re: Seems like same project numbers over and over again.

Hi again folks, I think I may have found the answer to my problem whilst doing a Google search on runs, clones, and gens. The Google search results pointed to another post in this forum that explained that each project has a different starting point for the protein, and the results sent back from al...

Seems like same project numbers over and over again.

Hi all. Lately, I seem to notice that when my computer gets new work units, it seems to be downloading the same five or six project numbers over and again; only the other did I get a project number had not seen before. Is this due to the fact that I have chosen to only fold the smaller work units be...

Re: Points per day on laptops

My fan makes a bit of noise too, Mizzou, but it's folding at about 50 deg c on average according to CoreTemp, which I guess is pretty good compared to what I'm reading from others here. I have my laptop raised up on a sloped cooling tray when I'm at home, and I don't fold when I'm out, and it runs o...

Re: Points per day on laptops

How are you managing to get 600-1200 ppd Karamiekos, it must be because you're using Linux and the SMP client. As I said in my original post, FahSpy is saying I'm crunching 130 pts a day.

Points per day on laptops

Hi Everyone, Time for a bit of fun. Just wondering how many of you out there are folding on a laptop like me, and how many points per day you are managing to get. Also, this will give me an idea of how well my laptop is folding compared to others. I'll start us off. My specs are as follows: I'm usin...
