Re: v8.3.5 Installation fails silently under Ubuntu

Describe what you see if you go to the following link: https://beta.foldingathome.org/account IIRC there is a bug in the linux beta version (fixed in alpha version) which causes the account button not to show at the top next to the half moon. You can run the following and see if you can see/use the ...

Re: 8.3.5 on Ubuntu doesn't get work

Try changing the number of CPUs from 30 to 27 .... 30 = 2 x 3 x 5 (5 can be a problem) and 27 = 3 x 3 x 3 which should work better ..... you may still have trouble getting work on your CPU as there may not be any work available for that many CPUs. There is, however, work for your GPUs .... not sure ...

Re: 8.3.5 on Ubuntu doesn't get work

Copy the contents of /etc/fah-client/config.xml and paste them here: cat /etc/fah-client/config.xml You can redact any identity info if you prefer but the other data will be useful is determining what is wrong with your setup. Also, did you create a login account and did you login on each system? An...

Re: GPU disabled after recent update

New updates breaking graphics drivers for anyone else? 22.04.2 https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/14nptq3/new_updates_breaking_graphics_drivers_for_anyone/ There are a number of fixes & conclusions in the above thread. One being the headers were not part of the update so the following does...

Re: GPU disabled after recent update

All my ubuntu setups have dkms installed .... as an update to the above I just upgraded another linux folder with the same kernel update from 6.2 to 6.5 but this time the driver was 525.xx and the one that failed was 535.xx .... another difference was two GPU slots as opposed to 1 GPU slot & 1 C...

Re: GPU disabled after recent update

I'm not sure this has anything to do with the GPU involved. I just had that same thing happen on a system running an rtx 2060 & a 3060. The were both disabled after the update and system info showed no support for opencl or cuda. I went to Software & Updates > Additional drivers and re-insta...

Re: Points Drop

Try the following and report their output (first line is for v7 and the second is for v8): ls -l /var/lib/fahclient ls -l /var/lib/fah-client If you don't get any output from both of those commands then fahclient was not installed in the default directory and you will have to tell us where you insta...

Re: No work assigments...

What is your cause preference? If it's anything other than "ANY" try setting it to that as your current preference may be low in work.

Also, at this time 209.200 is set to "Accept" so it's not currently assigning work. :?

Re: Selecting 'Diabetes' leads to no new work

When you change a preference it's best to restart the client. Easy way ... reboot. p.s. diabetes is not in the supported cause list for v7 ... if you're using v8 it's probably, as toTOW already said, a bug and should be reported but Pakinson's is supported in v7 ... I use "Any" Reported to...

Re: Trouble getting workunits

One more suggestion:

SInce you're using the beta v8 make sure it's the .18 version as earlier versions had some problems including in the comm area.
