Project 18409/a8 EXTREMELY large WU???

I've never seen anything like this before - ever. ETA is 19 hours 49 minutes right now, and it's not even 50% done. Folding on a Core i9 7900X on 17 threads, clocked at 4GHz. Super weird. I can't say I really desire to be assigned such mammooth work units, because I am not a habitual folder, so feel...

Project 13429 issued to AMD Vega 64

Not sure if this is the correct forum (I tried to do an educated guess), but this project has extremely low efficiency on AMD Vega 64 (less than 200k PPD). Is there really nothing else to give to me at the moment? I'd rather my GPUs idle than spend a lot of power folding such low-yielding work units...

Re: Inherent problem of small Work Units running on big GPUs

What happens if you get a small WU that finished in 1 hour and the next WU takes 6 hours? Do you have to keep replacing the first WU every hour? Ideally, at some point, the client would be able to detect there's unused shader processors on the GPU and automatically request a second WU dynamically a...

Re: Inherent problem of small Work Units running on big GPUs

Thank you to those who work on the project providing some info, it is good to know this issue is being looked at. I would like to stress (perhaps needlessly ;)), it's one increasingly in need of a fix, as GPUs only keep getting bigger and bigger, so the proportion of lost computing power will also k...

Inherent problem of small Work Units running on big GPUs

We've all run into this I suppose - or at least if we have a high-end GPU. We get a small work unit that contains comparatively few atoms, and the GPU doesn't have enough data to chrunch to fill up all available shader processors on the chip. Result is a GPU running full tilt burning full power, but...

Re: GRID A100X not using full power

The current 134xx projects for the COVID Moonshot perform well on the A100, but the systems aren't quite large enough to fill up the entire GPU to achieve full utilization. We're making some improvements in core22 over the next few weeks that you should keep an eye out for that will improve utiliza...

Re: Project 14229 & AMD Vega 64

FAH does make attempts steer small projects to clients with smaller hardware. Ok, good then. :) Just have to hope more projects release more big WUs! With GPUs getting faster and faster, surely it would be beneficial to dole out bigger and bigger WUs, methinks? What are the GPUID codes for your Veg...

Re: Project 14229 & AMD Vega 64

Getting WUs from project 14184 on my Vegas; they give LESS THAN 250k PPD... Kinda wasteful running a GPU which regularly slurps around 200W for just the main ASIC for so few points. Electricity is a precious resource after all, we shouldn't squander it. Can't you steer big projects only to big GPUs....

Re: Core A7 switched from AVX back to SSE2

How many slots are you running and how many CPUs are assigned to each one? I have just one CPU/one folding slot using CPU. Anyhow, the issue fixed itself overnight! Whee! So thanks to whomever worked some magic to straighten out the problem. Now my CPU folds with AVX(2?) and gets at least 50% highe...

Your really posting in the wrong topic. The problems that have been a challenge for most other donors have been with the two servers 155.247.166.* and your log doesn't mention either them. I am? Well I originally made my own thread, and it got merged with this one so I kept posting here. If I'm pos...

Slow WU downloads...

Still getting really slow downloads, sadly. Took a pause for some days while tweaking my CPU to get boost clocks working properly on it again and when I come back to folding, downloading 2x 70+ MB GPU WUs took nearly 20 minutes. It's like being back in the good old POTS modem days again... ;) ******...

Re: Really slow WU downloads; failed download.

Also seeing cases of downloading simply stopping, forever. Seemingly for no reason. Like here. I already quit F@H just prior because it wouldn't fetch new WUs, and then it completes just 1 additional WU and again stops... *shrug* Never seen this behavior before until now. Not sure what's going on. *...

Re: Connecting to 155.247.166.219: connection failed

Ok, well, I did regularly get WUs for this setting up until the other day, and then I've had a few more since then as mentioned. So they do exist apparently. But I'll change the setting; only reason it is 19 right now is because one of my GPUs blew its top about a week ago and had to be amputated. U...
