Re: 2605 (multiple)
If I can't figure this out tonight (another 6.5 hours until the single core WU I started is complete), I am probably going to wipe the install of linux, as Ubuntu 8.04 has just been released anyway. Perhaps a fresh install of the OS could help.

127.0.0.1 localhost <yourhostname>

Re: 2605 (multiple)
I checked for dust just a couple of weeks ago. It's clean, and temps are good.

Re: 2605 (multiple)
I took out the -smp flag, and it runs fine.
I don't know exactly what that means though. SMP was working just a couple of days ago. I have changed nothing.

Re: 2605 (multiple)
Is anybody able to help with this problem? It now seems to be every work unit I try with this machine (always pulls 2605). I would think there is something wrong with the machine, but it did the last work unit just fine. Is there anything about the errors received that can tell what is going on? My ...

Re: 2605 (multiple)
Also, when I tried to run it again, it said something about a broken pipe... Oh, I also tried it with the -forceasm flag off (which I normally have on), but it still didn't work. 2605 (multiple)
All of the sudden, I am having trouble starting work units. I am running Ubuntu, and SMP 6.02 beta 1. My last work unit finished with no problems. However, tonight I tried to start another, and I keep hanging at the beginning. I have tried deleting the work unit, and starting over, and even deleting...

Re: Job assignment
Hmm. So it may have just been a server that was down. Well, hopefully I start getting dual core WUs on my Pentium D soon, or I will have to go back to dual standard clients on my work computer.

Re: Job assignment
Why does my Q6600 (single instance in Linux) get "dual core" WUs then, while at the same time my Pentium D is getting "quad core" WUs?

Re: Job assignment
...As for machine capability, the new (version 6) clients have the ability to, and do, check what processor the computer has, but this information is not yet taken into account by the assignment servers, so at the moment, no, bigger tasks are not necessarily assigned to more capable machines. I am ...

Re: Pc to Slow???
In my personal opinion, a P3 450 is just not worth the electricity it uses (electricity is expensive here in California). I just built a dedicated folding rig (q6600) for about $700 (using an old monitor). I probably could have spent a low as about $500, but I wanted to get a good silent Heatsink/Fa...
