If you won't be doing anything else with it, booting into Runlevel 3 may help.

Edit: Apparently Ubuntu 11.04 doesn't have that option.

I'd recommend minimizing the cost/performance ratio. ;-) Do you know how much power they're drawing already? Close. I don't have a specific project to look a though.
It was just a long table - pages long. It could be sorted by the headings of the table, one of which was the CPU type.

I once came across a stats page that could list work units by CPU type. I have not been able to find it again. Is it still around?
