Re: Change in BA requirements

Sentiment and supposition are nice, but let's try to stick with facts. Fact: You can define equal work for equal pay any way you want, but the only one that counts in the one defined by Pande Group. It has never factored watts, electricity cost, or hardware cost in their definition of equal (scient...

Re: Change in BA requirements

I am not at all sure GPU's can do bigadv so far the largest is quite a bit shy of a bigadv WU and takes several hrs to complete. There have not been many core 17 projects released and there have been several smp projects released since the core 17 WU's were released, so that in itself makes me ques...

Re: AMD Mantle

Mantle is a low level 'graphics' API, OpenCL is already a low level 'compute' API

Re: Change in BA requirements

I think the simple thing is that in future I won't be spending more money on building a server to fold bigadv unfortunately, I'd feel a lot more comfortable building a multi-GPU system going forward.

Re: Change in BA requirements

It's hard to say what is equal work for equal points though, I'd guess the SMP was adjusted to be more comparable to the work GPU puts out which is fair enough, but I think the net result is that it does make SMP a bit redundant for a competitive donor. Now BA has raised minimum requirements, I can'...

Re: 12-17-2013 BigAdv Announcement

I'm just hoping it'll be 32 threads and not 32 cores, would be pretty sad if my dual Xeon E5-2650's couldn't make the deadlines.

Re: Driver 331.82 WHQL

I just hope Nvidia fixes this issue soon for the GK104's, it's the same thing in Linux also.

Re: Linux driver 331.20 released

Yeah it's definitely the same issue though on the 331's, and although the Linux driver isn't quite in sync numerically, I'd have to assume all 331's will have this bug until resolved.

Re: Linux driver 331.20 released

Yep still on the 319's myself, I was hoping Nvidia would have resolved this by now... :(

I've left my Fermi GTX 560 Ti running the 331.20's as the hit isn't too bad/almost negligible, but it still seems like half speed on the Kepler GTX 760.

Re: Intel HD Graphics 4000

In theory, FahCore_17 uses OpenCL 1.1 so it can run on any device that supports OpenCL 1.1 (Phi, iGPUs, CPUs, etc). However, from a developmental point of view, it is better to focus and eliminate all bugs on AMD and Nvidia GPUs across Windows and Linux since that is the majority of GPU folding pow...

Any news on the HD 4000 support, is this something that's in the pipeline at least?

Re: Any solid reasons for running v6?

We need the v6 client for GPU folding under Wine for Linux, until the v7 client provides that functionality natively, we should still ideally have that option if possible. Not everyone can afford Windows licenses just to fold on spare machines they have.

Re: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Latest 15.31 series beta driver supports OpenCL 1.2 now also :-

It's quite a capable IGP to be honest, I'm sure it could do some decent work.
