Re: CPU & mobo requirements for 6 high powered GPUs
Sharing a core (deliberately with affinity or accidentally oversubscribing) between CPU and GPU folding has a detrimental effect on CPU performance. I have not proved (or didn't notice the figures) whether GPU performance is also affected -- that is, although Core17 keeps a CPU core busy, it is not ...

Re: Folding on Android
Well, the page starts with the sort of semi-truth that gives popular science a bad name: Many smartphones are a supercomputer! Oh? By the standards of 1980, yes. By today's standards, no. Though possibly a defensible statement if "many" is a very large number (many phones to make one proje...

Re: website down

Some issue on Windows Firefox (Vista 32bit in my case)? Did anyone have problems with anything else? Did anyone NOT have a problem with Firefox on Windo...

This is bizarre. From Linux it works, from Vista (different PC, same ADSL connection) it doesn't. Tried clearing cache, same result.
7im, what's the Windows mantra for trace route?

Yes, that is accessible, but folding.stanford.edu gives the proxy page (above) and sub-pages are 404 Not Found.PantherX wrote:Those that are encountering the issue, can you access http://www.stanford.edu without any issue or not?

You seem to have the beta flag set. Support is not available here, you must be a member of the beta team and post in the beta forum to get support for that configuration.
Or try removing the beta flag.

Re: FahCore_17.exe keeps crashing
You have set client-type beta. I don't think this is a beta test problem, but try removing the beta flag first and then post a new log here.

Re: Low power GPU?
It seems to be working… Shhh. Don't provoke it. Downloaded project: 8900 (Run 338, Clone 10, Gen 4), TPF just over 9 minutes, PPD ~30,000 (which I can live with :) ), temperature around 52ºC and showing a touch of yellow on the bar graph, I assume I can ignore that unless I start to see some ...

Re: Low power GPU?
Not heard that before, I'd have to write down what to do- my machines feel hard done by if they're rebooted more than about once a month  That's why I keep forgetting, too. But I seem to remember there's more to it -- something else needs configuring to get the fan speed to be controllable. T...

Re: Low power GPU?
I've not run multiple GPUs, so I can't help there. nvidia driver versions for Linux are not in line with Windows. My 660Ti runs OK with 310.44. You will need to set the fan speed (after each reboot :() in the nvidia x server settings app. I don't think you will need the newest gpus.txt. But if you d...
