Re: Highwater Mark
From Prof. Pande's blog, Folding@home passes the 5 petaflop mark : Based on our FLOP estimate (see http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... pe=osstats), Folding@home has passed the 5 petaflop mark recently. To put it in context, traditional supercomputers have just broken the 1 petaflop mark, and...

Re: Added Machines and Names Not showing on team
Have either of those clients turned in a WU at all yet? As said, post your log files (within the tags). Also, start your clients with the -verbosity 9 flag in case it might yield further useful information (all it does is print more information into the log files). You managed to predict toTOW's pos...

Re: F@H & Cygwin
Perhaps you could somehow set up the Linux SMP client on WIndows and running via Cygwin. Though I highly doubt such a set up would work or be worth it though because Cygwin is pretty much a Linux emulator that probably would not be able to run highly optimized MPI libraries. Now I actually don't kno...

Re: F@H & Cygwin
Tried it once to configure the client, but not actually run it, out of curiosity to see what would happen. Cygwin wouldn't make much of a performance difference, though; it runs the FAH executable as any plain WIn32 executable, which would still use the same slower Windows libraries rather than the ...

Re: Windows 7 - All Windows 7 comments go here.
vmware seems toonstall,it just won't start up. maybe a ie8 issue r something. I got firefox to workwith vmware with vista the other day, maybe I'll try that in windows 7. Have the same problem here, even with firefox. Are you using 64-bit Windows 7? I remember seeing something about issues with Vist...

Re: Windows 7 - All Windows 7 comments go here.
I'm about to give windows 7 a try from vista and had a question. Is there a way I can save the current projects im currently running (smp/gpu) so that when I install windows 7 I could install the clients again and have them start where they left off. I'm assuming your doing a clean install. All you...

Re: Quick NOOB questions.
Firstly is it a case of choosing only the GPU or CPU version? Can you run both at the same time or is it best to stick to one. I believe it depends on whether you are running the ATI or the NVIDIA client. I've read the ATI client takes up a lot of CPU resources, so if you only have a single-core CP...

Re: Can't send work units for weeks now
If you notice the following lines Oops, lol  Didn't see that... According to the server status page right now, 128.59.74.4 has a load of 97 while 171.65.103.100 has a load of 208. I can see why you can't connect to the second one (208 is rather high), but I'm not sure if 97 is high for the fi...

Re: "unstable_machine" in log file
Glad to hear it's working again :) Bad WUs do not come up too often. With WUs for beta clients like GPU, though, they do come up in a *slightly* higher frequency, I suppose. We usually finally determine a WU is a bad one if we find that the WU stops at nearly the same place for many people. If you s...

Re: Issue with "UNSTABLE_MACHINE"
I noticed the server is assigning you the same WU (same project, run, clone, gen numbers). The assignment servers normally reassign the same WUs 3-4 times when your WU fails. Since this *might* be a bad WU, you have to pretty much delete the work folder, queue.dat, and unitinfo.txt files a few times...

Re: Windows 7 - All Windows 7 comments go here.
Uniprocessor console clients work well as services. The systray clients (uniprocessor and GPU) do not appear to cleanly shut down as they usually do under Vista if you do not manually shut down the clients before shutting down the computer. No shutdown messages appear in the log of those systray cli...
