Re: Dled and installed... now what?

Hello chromegadget and welcome to the forum What are your hardware specs for that XP computer (e.g. CPU, GPU, etc.)? Based on the information you have at the moment, there isn't anything else you need to do other than to close the viewer because it just takes up precious CPU cycles. To make sure it'...

Re: Preferred Client?

There is no preferred client. Even if you think the uniprocessor client has limited value, it's still very valuable to PG. There are some things a uni CPU client can do that the GPU and PS3 clients cannot. Furthermore, the SMP cores are still of experimental nature, and is used more for large protei...

Re: need help folding very slow

It might also help to see your log file. Copy and paste your log file between the tags. You can access the log by right-clicking the FAH tray icon, hovering over Status, and clicking Log file. (If you were using the console client, you'd find it in FAHlog.txt in the location of the executable)

Hello Arky and welcome to the forum What's your hardware specs (e.g. CPU model and speed, memory, etc.) and what operating system do you use? What client do you use? It might also help to see your log file. If you are using a system tray client, your log file will be found in %APPDATA%\Folding@Home-...

With only one actual physical core, we prefer you choose one or the other, but not both.

Re: VMware SMP is having directory issues & can't find Stanford.

Try lowering your clocks even further, probably even back to your original ones to see if the problem goes away. By the way, we generally don't recommend prime95 as a stress tester because it doesn't stress the CPU enough. Try the utilities on the tools page. As said, try StressCPU2. It comes from t...

Re: VMware SMP is having directory issues & can't find Stanford.

That's a networking problem. Do you connect to some network hub or directly to the Internet? I've had that before, and what I usually do is disable and reenable the network adapters (essentially playing around with the network settings until it works). I don't use Intel processors, but going from 3....

Re: Not returning workunits

Hi, I couldn't figure out a way to cancel a work unit or if this is even an option, but I just wanted to make the admins aware that I will not be returning the following work units, because I had to format my computer. P6301 (R451, C2, G19) P6302 (R255, C3, G16) P1750 (R3, C99, G0) P6302 (R683, C3,...

Re: SMP and VirtualBox 3

I tried Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop with the SMP client in VBox 3.0.2 today. But after about 10 minutes, close to the time it would progress 1%, the VM would simply freeze, though the VM window itself was still working. I noticed that the VM's CPU usage in task manager dropped from 88-95% to 25% (I have a q...

Re: What is FAH project link for BOINC setup?

FAH is not part of the BOINC platform, so you won't have any luck getting it to work on BOINC. As tear says, you will have to download the FAH client itself.
