Re: SMP and VirtualBox 3

I'm not sure if the VBox is using RAM in a hidden way, but according to Task Manager, I still had quite a lot of RAM left (I think I was only using about 55-60% of my physical memory/RAM while I was running notfred). On a another note, notfred's worked fine and actually got to around 7%, except that...

Re: SMP and VirtualBox 3

Good news everyone. The full release of VBox 3 works with SMP. http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/9661/vboxnotfred.th.png I tested it using notfred, since VBox supports vmdk. However, two major caveats: -It doesn't seem to utilize the CPU as efficiently has two notfreds on VMware. Not sure about tha...

Re: Will adding a few more gigs of RAM increase my PPD?

It depends. If you're running out of memory, your PPD will decrease because your OS will resort to swapping. If folding doesn't exhaust your supply of RAM, adding more won't really do much.

Re: SMP and VirtualBox 3

No luck on VBox 3.0.0 b2 either... :e( It all ends with CoreStatus FF.

Edit: notfred didn't work well with VBox either (VBox supports vmdk files). Same error message: CoreStatus FF

Re: SMP and VirtualBox 3

I don't know how it is with Virtualbox, but with VMWare Workstation, you can run a 64 bits guest on a 32 bits host 8-) I hope the VBox community gets that bug fixed by the final release before I have to return to Vista 32... In this economic crisis, I think I'll stick with being cheap. Last time I ...

Re: CPU and GPU console on Vista

Open the Service manager (Start menu --> All Programs --> Administrative Tools --> Services OR Start Menu --> enter "services.msc") and check if there are entries that say "Folding@Home-CPU-[ Machine ID ]". By the way, the GPU console does not work as a service on Vista. It says ...

Re: more WU then expected..

Your WUs get credited once they are returned to the server. As codysluder says, if you get an EUE and the client uploads the resulting partially-done work unit, you will get 1 WU added to your stats while the number of points will vary with how much you completed before the EUE. On some rare occasio...
