Re: Different Folder Set Up Confusion...

There are two ways to do four uniprocessor clients: The easiest method is to get 4 console clients or 1 systray + 3 console clients. Make a folder for each client (make sure it's not in C:\Program Files). Download the console client, extract the client, and put a copy into each folder. Follow this g...

And you can't merge accounts either. Points are final.

Re: Missing Points?

Hmm, You absolutely sure of that? (I am certain that you are but just want to see it in writing) :ewink: Current WU was issued to "y". Queue.dat will reflect issued to "y". -configonly would not have changed the original data in queue.dat. Only client.cfg would have been modifie...

Re: Windows 7 - All Windows 7 comments go here.

A simple Google search says that Windows 7, once released, will be able to scale up to 256 processors. Whether or not the RC supports that many at the moment, it will definitely support 8.

Re: Missing Points?

also i have a dual core processor but only 1 seems ever to be occupied folding even though it should have set itself for whatever my system is. The client, even though it's a unified client for Linux, needs to be told to run on both of your cores. If you don't specifically tell the client to run on...

Re: Multiple Foldings

If you use vmware to run SMP, make sure you have enough RAM. Each virtual machine eats up a lot of RAM. I'd say for XP, probably 2 GB of RAM is the bare minimum to avoid swapping if you run 2 virtual machines to cover all four of your cores (each vmware virtual machine has a maximum of two cores), b...

Re: 171.67.108.11

The server seems to be back up. Finally managed to return a work unit set to expire very soon. :)

Looks like there is hope for the many others getting bogged down by these problems.

Re: Unable To Get Work Packets

The one thing that really struck me as weird when I delve deep into where the programs have installed at seemed strange. It installs the clients under C:\Program Files\Folding@home\Folding@home-x86 (this is the CPU path). When I click on Compatibility Files it take me a whole different path C:\User...

Re: Missing Points?

@AgrFan: The guys at PG were doing some maintenance work on the servers over the weekend, so your WUs probably won't appear in the stats until some time later. Keep in mind that if your log file says that your WUs were submitted successfully, it is almost certain that they will get credited some tim...

Re: Can u run both a GPU and Windows client?

Don't forget to run the client at a slightly higher priority if you're using 100% of your CPU for folding (e.g. 4 uniprocessor clients or 1 SMP). For the systray client: right-click on the systray icon and select Configure -> Advanced tab -> select "Slightly higher". On the console client:...

Re: Windows 7 - All Windows 7 comments go here.

Is anyone seeing a worse 2D lag with Windows 7 RC (build 7100)? I've tried both 181.72 and 185.85 drivers and both of them have the same lag, though the 185 one, for me, is only slightly worse (barely noticeable). I guess my 9500GT might be exaggerating the lag since it's a slower graphics card...bu...

Re: point help

Hello shadowfir3 and welcome to the forum You might have a problem. But first, we need to know some basic information about your computer and your client. What are your computer specifications (e.g. CPU, GPU (if applicable), operating system, etc.)? Which client and what version are you using? How l...

Re: Windows 7 - All Windows 7 comments go here.

185.81 drivers for NVIDIA GPUs ( 64-bit and 32-bit ) for Windows 7 were posted on the NV public downloads page a few days ago. I'm planning to give folding a shot with these drivers. Any official word on using these yet (especially after the outcry over using the leaked 185 drivers)? By the way, Win...

Re: Noobie questions

Only 50 C?? 50 C is normal because FAH pushes your CPU very hard with its assembly optimizations. You shouldn't need to worry too much unless your temperature begins to exceed your CPU's temperature limit, which varies with CPU model (use Google to find your CPU's limit). Edit: for reference, ...

Re: Noobie questions

Hello noop and welcome to the forum! 1) The display that comes with the systray is buggy and works for some people and not for others. It also takes up a considerable amount of CPU cycles. If you want to monitor your client's progress, try something from the monitoring section of the Tools List , li...
