Re: I seem to have received a bad _a8 core update [OS X]

Thanks, Joe, I’ll give that a go.

Now that I’ve got this far I may as well go the whole hog and get everything up to date - I shall then once again leave well alone unless something else goes wrong in the future.

Re: I seem to have received a bad _a8 core update [OS X]

Thanks, Joe. Whenever I try to do anything to F@H it seems to go pear-shaped. I know how to stop the client and check it has uploaded, but in simple terms how would I then update the version? I had hoped (well, assumed, really) that when I was following PantherX's sage advice about how to correct th...

Re: I seem to have received a bad _a8 core update [OS X]

Admin: Thanks for unblocking me (see my email at 0918 BST (0818 GMT/UTC). I still don't know why I was banned for spamming (falsely for the second time recently) but thanks for the speedy resolution. But on to business. I appear still to be running v7.6.9, how do I update to the latest version - or...

Re: I seem to have received a bad _a8 core update [OS X]

SilvioMartin's fix worked for me (see quote below), although I hadn't read Hopfgeist's addendum by then. One thing that I would note for other technical numpties like me is that the path to the work folder is: /Library/Application Support/FAHClient/work and not ~/Library/Application Support/FAHClien...

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available

Update; I won't link to the announcement as last time I tried a crosslink I got "banned permanently"! I appealed but don't want to risk a crosslink again! :-( This is from the Server Outages and limitations thread on the Announcements - Pande Group Forum on the top board: Here's a summary ...

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available

Don't take my word for it as I'm no expert, but I'm getting the same. It doesn't stop new WUs coming down from time to time, although this recent "stoppage" has lasted about three days now. I think the message is conveying that F@H have been overwhelmed with new Folders (great) after press...

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available

Don't take my word for it for I am merely an uneducated user - but would the solution in my post of Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:12 pm above help? It's a macOS solution, but I'm pretty sure there will be a similar move on other platforms. it would remove the "Cores" folder (if that is what's causin...

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available

It may be a coicidence, but following the advice of Joe_H made a while since, I did the following: First, pause folding. Then go to the Library folder on the Mac's drive. Open the Application Support folder, and then open the FAHClient folder that is there. Drag the cores folder to the Trash, you wi...

Re: Error - Failed to get assignment from; No WUs available

Thanks for that response. It solves my query. Keep up the good work and I look forward to when the researchers can sit back and have a coffee - and I can start Folding again! 21:25:42:WARNING:WU01:FS00:Failed to get assignment from '65.254.110.245:8080': No WUs available for this configuration 21:25...

Re: Bad work units, bad luck or bad Me?

Alas, that means that two of my three iMacs will have to retire and be sent to the scrap yard, all they did was Fold 24/7. :e(

Re: Bad work units, bad luck or bad Me?

The software developer said he would look into this, not sure how long it will take. From my own testing the revised A7 core works on El Capitan and Sierra, and I assume higher versions of the OS. That leaves the question as to which s the lowest version of the OS that still will work? I appreciate...

Re: Bad work units, bad luck or bad Me?

I should add that I have done nothing to either machine, either for F@H or any other application, so this problem is, I surmise, self-inflicted by or within F@H - and that's an observation, not a criticism!
