Re: Ryzen 5000 thermals

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping that it could run @ 90 degrees like AM5. I'll get an 240 AIO. Oh I'm sure it can run hot and function, just would you want it to? This will depended on what else is sharing the case, in my situation a hot CPU plus a hot GPU heated each other even more. I know ...

Re: Ryzen 5000 thermals

Do Ryzen 5000 have the same issue [high temps when folding] as the AM5. I'm using an AMD provided CPU cooler. :?: I use a Ryzen 3700 8core/16 thread with a stock cooler and was not happy with the temps when I was folding with it. I have not cpu folded with it for a while as it also has a 'hot' GPU ...

RTX 4000 series new power connectors.

I am considering getting an RTX 4070ti for my folding rig to replace a RTX 2080ti and am wondering about peoples experience with this. When the 4090 and 4080 came out there were concerns about the latest power connector system and some very negative stories but this seems to be no longer in the news...

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home

Although that site useful enough for a general comparison/guide there are so many variables in GPU setup and response of particular GPUs to specific projects that people should not expect X card to do X ppd consistently as per any of these charts.

Re: 18717 Is Super Slow & Low PPD

In a positive comment for this much maligned WU my geriatric GTX 980ti which folded full time for many years and now does a couple of days a week as it now lives in a young teen's bedroom computer likes these just fine, averaging 1.3 Mppd when its general range is 1-1.5 Mppd.

Re: 18717 Is Super Slow & Low PPD

You are not alone, I am afraid this one suits very few people, just how it goes with variation this is an outlier on the lower end of the scale. Finish it and hopefully draw a different one next time is my philosophy.

Re: 50 % Wu are computed for nothing

Sometimes creative routing options to help the GPU get more air can be done as well. what options ? With passively cooled GPUs I have seen people cable tie case fans on or close to the heatsink either in a push or pull configuration depending on what more effective with the airflow directions. I wo...

Yes, on the advanced control panel; select the slot and choose "finish" this will complete the unit and not request another one, on restart it should show as snoozing icon and the slot read as paused.

Re: What's the best performing nvidia driver for 7.6.21?

Generally any driver with issues for folding is reported fairly quickly here on the forums or on discord. NVIDIA hasn't had any major driver issues for folding uses in a while. Even those issues were usually very minor. For the most part it's not a concern with this brand of GPU. I agree, once I fi...

Re: 50 % Wu are computed for nothing

Till yesterday, I limited the power available for fahcore 22 with cpulimit. Now all the power is available for fahcore 22. The computing time is now lower than the time to complete. But the temperature of the gpu is 82 °C instead of 65 °C. And we are only on spring. I am going to monitor what happe...

Re: Former miner, help me get these GPU's folding

RE the PCIE lanes, many people fold with risers and on slots with less than the reccomended 8 and it does work however this will tend bottle neck and reduce your contribution but not your power usage so the minimum of PCIE3 x 8 above is about effectiveness, I suggest you use what you have where poss...

My 20cc4861ddaa435420cc4861ddaa4354 key is now getting 80% :-) Not sure why you hid it above. It's not personal data. And the page is now working again for me. These stats pages seem a bit flaky. People hide their passkey to prevent bad actors from messing with their qualification for bonuses, whic...

Re: "geforce 2080 ti" gpu problem.

I changed gpu to a geforce 2080 ti but kept the same "i7-6950x" processor. If I use the cpu the gpu is not used to the maximum "I checked with gpu-z" so I only use the gpu to make the workunits. Do you think the problem lies in the old cpu? Are you running the CPU for folding? T...
