Re: Project: 6515 (Run 9, Clone 172, Gen 90)

Hmm, I just forced the client (6.34) to download a new one and it again downloaded version 1.90 of FahCore_78.exe. This is an 64bit Ubuntu 10.10 machine, in case that matters.

Re: New OS X Widget

Just email him and ask for a usage recommendation. He's a nice enough guy.

Think about it: he would not provide this service if he did not want anyone using it.

Re: New OS X Widget

The EOC stats maintainer only asks that you don't update more frequently than every 3 hours. Other than that, you can use it with minor restrictions. The FAQ on EOC is quite clear on this. Parsing the EOC XML rather than the Stanford tag soup would be a whole lot easier. From a quick inspection of t...

Project: 2662 (Run 0, Clone 191, Gen 14) 3250000 steps

Ran into a WU similar to the ones reported here and here . This one had 3250000 steps and ran about 13 times slower than usual. Since it was never going to finish on time, I dumped it. Got a backup if you need it. Relevant log portion follows [04:46:04] - Preparing to get new work unit... [04:46:04]...

Re: Annoying newbie questions

3. The mac should get about 2 times 120 PPD when folding 24/7. It's got ample RAM for 2 console clients.

That would be almost trivial to add to my script... Just don't have the time ATM.

Re: linux and PPC based machines

Have you gleaned from curl what authentication scheme the proxy is using? The F@h client only understands the 'Basic' scheme. If the network proxy is using something else, you probably have to use a local tunneling proxy to get through it. Every app has to be written specifically to work with the va...

Re: linux and PPC based machines

i dont even know the root pass
By default, the root user is not enabled on Mac OS X and I have never needed it
If you do need su rights, use sudo. That shouldn't be necessary for something simple like this.

Re: linux and PPC based machines

System Preferences -> Network -> Ethernet/WiFi -> Advanced -> Proxies -> Web proxy. Of course, you have to specify the proxy settings separately for the folding client as it doesn't use the system information . I know you already tried that. Since you're an IT pro and know what you're doing, t...

Re: linux and PPC based machines

I'm sure you can find second hand copies of 10.2-10.4. Not sure what the minimum requirements are for F@H OS-wise, but 10.2.8 definitely works.

Re: Data usage

Depending on your machine, you might complete anywhere from a single to 25 WUs in a month. The WU sizes vary but most are under 5 MB. You can configure the client not to request big WUs which come in at around 10 MB. I see only a very small selection of the various WU types on my machines, so there ...

Re: FAH WU Backup

Actually, there is no backup directory as such. There is only "the place where work is stored temporarily during processing", which is the work folder as Ivo stated. If you want backups, you'll have to make them yourself.

Re: EM III emprotz.dat updates

If anyone is interested, I wrote a script that will generate an emprotz.dat file from the current psummary page. It requires a working Perl installation with LWP::UserAgent. PM me to get a copy. BTW, you can still download EM-III here.
