Re: low-end GPU comparison (AMD vs. Nvidia)
The GeForce GT 620 card is rated at about 270 GFLOPs. The Radeon R7-240 is about 470 GFLOPs.

Folding@home doesn't require upgraded memory. Just install the client, add your user name, passkey, and if you're part of a team, your team number and let it run.

Re: Cannot connect to get jobs
I've been manually tethering my Mac at work to get the downloads kicked off. This morning after it timed out on port 8080, it actually got a job on port 80 without being tethered. That's the first time in months! Please post the following segments from your log: A) an unteathered connection that fa...

Re: Core 17 has suddenly started crashing
Maybe 0.0.52 is the correct core for your system but somehow the project that you're being assigned thinks it is the wrong one. Whether that's true or not, there's nothing you can fix; it's a Stanford problem.

Re: Driver 337.88 and 600 (and earlier) series GPUs
Proteneer (the Stanford developer of FahCore_17) mentioned that NV isn't handling a particular OpenCL call correctly. I presume he reported it to NV. We have to wait for them to release new drivers that contain that fix.

Re: Failed WU, how to delete it
You're not the only one having trouble with the current drivers. They're the responsibility of ATI, not Stanford. Yes, Stanford could permanently disable certain GPUs, but then they'd have to undo that process if (when?) ATI fixes the drivers. That's a bad idea, though, because nobody would be able ...

Re: Timeout/Expiration limits and specific work units.
The goal posts have not been moved for uniprocessor / dual processor assignments. Remember that the old P4 has hyperthreading which means it's a single core system that's masquerading as a dual core system. If you treat it as a single-core system, it will not need to run 24x7 although there still is...

Re: GTX 780 Ti - Bad PlatformId Size SOLVED: RDP problem
Yes, RDT is known to disable whatever FAH needs from the GPU and several alternatives work fine, including VNC and TeamViewer. (Thanks, Micro$oft  ) I find that remote monitoring in the Advanced Control program works great for what I want to do but the alternative connections do let you do oth...

Re: linux driver 331.20 for Kepler [and 304 for Fermi]
I recently did a clean reinstall of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. As might be expected for a Linux novice, I have had a lot of trouble figuring out how to get working drivers installed. I first tried "sudo apt-get install nvidia-331" and got 331.20 but with my 650 Ti, I knew that was not the best choi...

Re: Change in BA requirements
Face it. There were too many people jumping on the bigadv bandwagon and they wanted to trim the ranks. I think the BA power outgrew the projects that could be done with lotsa cores. Increasing the minimum number of cores in February wasn't planned as a way to attract more people to BA. If all the no...

Re: Number of active folders going down?
I've shut down four old dual-core machines and replace them with one GPU. Higher PPD and fewer things to track, so the number of machines I'm running is going down.

Re: project 8900 - logs not matching external stats? missing
Why don't you simply remove the beta flag? It's not doing you any good. And if you do discover a bug, you can't report it so it's not doing F@H any good either

Re: Change in BA requirements
Well, I think I follow your line of thought...but it just reinforces my argument...that it doesn't make sense to force(or re-balance)BA machines to regular smp. But, I might just be missing your point. In my mind, the time and energy spent on this "re-balancing" (which hasn't worked in th...

Re: GPU WU issues spreading to CPU WUs
All right. I understand but it does the same thing whether my monitor is on or not. Even if I am using my computer, it doesn't get a WU. The only good news it that the CPU got a WU on its own earlier this evening. Are the GPUs supposed to get a new WU just before they finish a WU? Yes. Both CPUs an...
