Re: Help selecting the right GPU
I run a pair of 970's and an i5 from a 8 year old Enermax Infiniti 720w. Been running 2 gpu slots and a cpu slot 24/7 with no problems. So I would hope/assume your PSU would be fine.

Server in "reject". 39 WU's available, but nothing being assigned to ATI. My Nvidia cards are however getting WU's from this server.

Re: GTX 980 clock speed
I have the 347.52 driver on my GTX980 and installed the 347.88 driver on my GTX970 yesterday. So far, the GTX970 has only picked up Core 15s and getting about 64k PPD, which is less PPD than when I used a GTX770. The GTX980 will get about 315k PPD when it gets a 17, but drops to about 65k PPD with ...

Re: GTX 980 clock speed
I have noticed the same speed variance on my GTX970 and GTX980. The bigger problem that I notice is that except for the rare times they pick up a core 17, their folding PPD is abysmal. I'm not sure if this is really a driver problem or there has been a change in the programing from Stanford. Its a ...

Re: Secondary GPU
Excellent, thankyou. EDIT: I wasn't really thinking last night. The 7970 pulls around 300W at load. The 6950 pulls around 250W at load. I have a 600W PSU. Never mind then :p I doubt they would actually use that much power folding, as it doesn't stress the entire card in the same way a game might. F...

Re: What affect does the CPU have on GPU performance?
Umm....Just picked up the first core_15 WU. So now 1 GPU running core_17 and 1 GPU running core_15. Strange thing is the CPU core feeding core_17 is still at 100% (but as we know not really doing anything), but the CPU core feeding core_15 is at just ~5%. Meanwhile the GPU core-17 is still at ~80% l...

Re: What affect does the CPU have on GPU performance?
For reference my 3770k @ 4.6Ghz (quad-core w/HT on) utilizes 13% CPU for maintaining a single 970 slot (core 17).... That is, probably, one thread at 100%. That is normal for Core 17 (and, I think, current Core 18) on nVidia GPUs. A separate thread is recommended (and reserved by the automatic inst...

Re: What affect does the CPU have on GPU performance?
You can look at this topic: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=27287 Compare only with the same projects. PS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Expres ... _revisions Yes, I've seen that thread - it's one of the reasons I questioned my PPD. I don't think the older PCIe interface has any impact, and an Athlon X...

Re: What affect does the CPU have on GPU performance?
1. As long as you have idle CPU cycles when the GPUs are folding you won't be held back. 2. Now, to to what extent a faster CPU would influence GPU folding - I don't know, I'm guessing any difference would be marginal. 3. My 970 also doesn't exceed 90% GPU utilisation, but I am told this is because...

What affect does the CPU have on GPU performance?
I've put 2 GTX960's in an old S939 motherboard with an Athlon X2 3800+. The PSU is a new one, more than capable of powering 3 high-end GPU's. The motherboard only has PCIe 1.1 slots and with 2 GPU's, can only provide 8 lanes to each. The GPU's are both at stock setting, and have been getting approx ...

Here's a really sick name for a team.

Re: How can I remove 717 WUs from my stats?
Check out the folder above, that's almost 4 wu's per point. Who is Scott_F? One of you guys? If so, pardon my directness. That machine is FUBAR (or maybe it's OCBAR). Those are the kind of machines that put a real drain on the server resources and often leave no WUs for the rest of us to download. ...

Re: Folding@home points system [appears] UNFAIR!
Oh dear, you are so very, very wrong. Why would Uncle_Fungus need to check your screen grab? After all it is his own site and I imagine he is well aware of how he programmed it. Why don't you try to understand the FAQ's. Read them again, maybe some more will sink in. Just because you say or wrote s...

Re: Folding@home points system [appears] UNFAIR!
First off that is wrong, the SMP benchmark is NOT 1780PPD. One of the SMP projects IS 1760 points. If you run the SMP project on two processors and it finishes in one day, that comes out to 880PPD. The PPD are calculated PER CORE, if you're not going to read what I have to say and the evidence I ha...
